UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Once Upon a Time in the West -- in 4k UHD

I first saw a longer version of "Once Upon a Time in the West" at college when the film society rented a 16mm print from the Film Source Catalog (an approximation as I no longer remember the exact name of the catalog). I believe it was 165 minutes. Is my memory correct about this? Correction...

PSYCHO UNCUT - exactly what is different?

"Psycho" is one of my favorite films. Re moviebull75 and the "digital artifacts" that you report a few others have noted. Could you at least post the source(s) of that assertion? I'm not being argumentative or accusatory, just puzzled as to why you haven't at least given the source as I'd...

Press Release SPHE Press Release: Taxi Driver (1976) (4k UHD Combo)

Glad they are using the Guy Peellaert poster artwork for the cover. It is one of the great movie posters IMHO.

Press Release Criterion Press Release: Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1973) (4k UHD Combo) (Blu-ray)

I have never upgraded from my old laser disc set. Looks like an amazing package!

UHD Review I Am Cuba – Criterion UHD Blu-ray Review

This is such an achingly beautiful film. I plead guilty to never upgrading since I acquired the old old laser disc back in the day, and this Criterion UHD was a day one preorder. Thank you for the review as it alleviated any lingering concerns I might have had about this release.

Press Release Arrow Video Press Release: American Gigolo (1980) (4k UHD)

Well... Mr. Schrader created the character, the lines, and the story arc -- it isn't, after all, a documentary. Let me imagine a film and a screenplay with a down-and-out actor who is desperately in need of money who can't get cast for some spurious reasons and has some deeply imbedded...

Press Release Arrow Video Press Release: American Gigolo (1980) (4k UHD)

Well, I've ordered the Arrow set. Now I should really make it a point to finally see "Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters" as I imagine it would add to my understanding of Mr. Schrader. I've always avoided it for various reasons.

Press Release Arrow Video Press Release: American Gigolo (1980) (4k UHD)

I've always been deeply intrigued with Schrader's films as they so often portray stark contradictions and extremes with an overlay of spiritual transcendence. I loved his book, "Transcendental Style in Film" when I was in college, and perhaps that has warped how I view his films and interpret...

Press Release Arrow Video Press Release: American Gigolo (1980) (4k UHD)

I really should see the film again vis a vis any vestiges of homophobia. My faint recollection from seeing the film all those years ago is that the "straightness" of the Gere character and his not having male clients is fully supported and lauded by the story arc and how he is redeemed by the...

Press Release Arrow Video Press Release: American Gigolo (1980) (4k UHD)

I had a huge crush on Richard Gere back in the day, so this was a must see for me when it opened. I didn't really warm up to this particular film at the time -- it was annoying that the Gere character's descent into the lower depths when he needs cash was apparently at its nadir when he pleads...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Aliens -- in 4k UHD

That's the basis for quite a few genre bending fantasy and SF novels!

One From the Heart: Reprise 4K UHD

There have been so many versions of this film! Back in the day I loved the cut mentioned previously on a Japanese laserdisc, but I sold that off many moons ago! Does anyone know if that cut has ever been released on Blu-Ray anywhere? In any event, I am thrilled to have this release and will...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Aliens -- in 4k UHD

This may or may not be the appropriate thread for this question -- mods feel free to move this to another topic as needed! But I was just wondering if this new AI powered "tool" could ever be used, for example, to clean up the dissolves in "Giant"? Or are costs too prohibitive to revisit that...

A few words about...™ - All That Money Can Buy -- in Blu-ray

I had preordered directly from Criterion and just received my copy today. One of my all-time favorite films and scores. It features absolutely brilliant performances by the entire ensemble, and casts a unique, eerie spell from beginning to end. One of the great films.

International New Releases from Deaf Crocodile Films for 2024

Yes, similar to other Kickstarter campaigns hopefully they'll go far and above their original goal. I do love these films, so I had to double dip a bit but with no complaints!
