Has anyone confirmed this? I’ve only got my HD DVD of this and while it’s fine with my present gear, WB HD DVDs have a high failure rate on my shelf. I grabbed Unforgiven in UHD to get the new BD transfer (was another WB HD DVD on my shelf) and would do the same here if this is confirmed.
I chose "have not decided" but I suspect 4K will be it though I'm not there yet. Hell, I still have an SD CRT in the living room.
I have an Epson 5030ub projector in the "cave" and have been (surprisingly, as I don't often enjoy it at the cinema) watching a fair amount of 3D releases. As...
This was a blind buy as part of a Twilight sale and had been sitting on my shelf for a while. Finally cracked it open last night. An interesting example of early 70s cinema, reflecting the cynicism of the period rather well. I'm a big fan of the three lead actors and enjoyed watching them...
While I've not had much time lately for recreational listening (i.e. listening to entire albums without doing anything else), when I did have time, this was a frequent choice on my DVD-A pile (bought it when it came out).
And quite rightly so. Dunning’s work represented a methodological advance over earlier texts on Reconstruction, but it is woefully outdated in a number of ways. Both Foner, and Kenneth Stampp before him, transformed our understanding of Reconstruction and gave us a much more nuanced, complex and...
I teach Native American History and Cultures and the final assignment is an analysis of cinematic portrayals of indigenous peoples in North America. The students pick from a list of films spanning nearly a century of production and the gamut of historical topics. This film will make a fine...
True. Saw it the same way.
Also true, for at least a decade. Probably longer (save perhaps for those who have room to accommodate extremely large screens—an 8k version may well work for those few).
I’m not 4K capable at the moment (won’t be for a while as I just replaced my projector last...
I give them away to family and friends. If they are work related titles (I frequently screen excerpts or, on occasion, whole films in class), I keep the DVD as our gear is not BD friendly. On rare occasions, I keep a DVD if it has interesting extras not on the BD release.
Not yet on the UHD bandwagon (my displays all work well and I don't usually upgrade displays unless something breaks -- still have two SD CRTs in regular use in living room and kids' playroom  ). However, since my last post 9 years ago, my list of players has grown considerably:
Sony...
Excellent explanation of how the extended cut A) works better and B) was clearly the cut Snyder wanted to release.
I'm a bit more forgiving of Suicide Squad, but otherwise, pretty much exactly how I feel about these films. Especially Man of Steel.
I have the German Blu-ray. Pretty sure it's 5.1 (I needed to replace my worn VHS widescreen copy for classroom use, so I found a disc a few years ago online).
Unless there are significant extras on this release, I'll live with the German disc menu.
Costs in Canada for initial releases often seem grossly overpriced vs US releases (Twilight Zone series Blu a notable exception). Once we factor in exchange rates, however, the difference is often negligible. I live in Canada and work in the US. I do the price comparison with all costs (taxes...
Just scored a copy from Amazon Canada. Comes to 88$US taxes included (no way to avoid sales tax in Canada). Close enough to best US deal currently available.
