Thanks for your advice, gentlemen. I will probably go with the REL. The store is locally owned and has been in business for decades. So I'd rather give my money to them than a chain. However, I might first try a do-it-yourself fix and purchase an inexpensive third-party surround repair kit...
I posted this in another subwoofer thread, but realized that nobody had posted there for about six months. So please excuse me if you see this twice.
I've had a home theater system in my basement mancave for 20 years, and I've replaced components as needed. But the speakers have remained the...
I've had a home theater system in my basement mancave for 20 years, and I've replaced components as needed. But the speakers have remained the same -- Paradigm Studio 40's in the front, Paradigm CC470V3 in the center, Paradigm mini-MON IV3s in the rear, and a Paradigm PW2100V2 sub...
You've probably checked this, but just in case, make sure you don't have any fingerprints on your 4K disc. I've been bingeing on the latest Hitchock 4K collection, which are kind of hard to get out of the case without touching the bottom side of the disc. In my player, at least, if there's...
I was somewhat familiar with the song and the artist, and I'd seen the live version on a Youtube video. I think that's the one they used on the show. But I had forgotten that she originally recorded it on her very first album back in the 90s.
Oh, and I almost forgot. the season 2 theme song, "Let the Mystery Be" by Iris Dement is, to me, perfect. I watched the complete opening credits of every show that season, something I otherwise never do, just to listen to that song again.
I haven't seen the show since its original airing, but I still regard it as one of my favorite shows of all time. Watching the series got me to read the book, and then I read every other novel that Tom Perrotta wrote.
At the start of every baseball season, I always watch Bull Durham. Great movie, great quotes.
And every Christmas, it's always White Christmas and Love, Actually.
Both based on the book of the same name. I loved the book, and the author, Fredrik Backman, has become one of my favorites. At first thought, Tom Hanks doesn't seem the perfect choice for Otto (Ove), but I guess he can do curmudgeonly as well as anyone these days.
It's my favorite show, and the only "non-scripted" show I watch, other than actual sports, and the only show on Discovery I watch. As for the gutters and platforms now used in the battlebox, I think a lot of this is done to encourage different types of robots. Over the years, it's become clear...
I can't watch The Honeymooners today. Too much "pow, right in the kisser" threats of domestic violence for me.
Also, I was a big fan of Thirtysomething when it ran on TV. When it came out on DVD, I bought the first season, but I could only make it through the first three episodes before I...
I confess I didn't go through all 20 pages of this thread. But despite my fondness for many of the old theme songs, this song continues to haunt me and was a perfect theme song for The Leftovers. Even though I recorded this on DVR, I never skipped the opening credits.
I really enjoyed the first two episodes. The opening, going-to-the-bathroom montage could have been filmed at my house. They even got the times about right.
I was an early adopter of the VCR, back when the remote control had a cord connecting it to the unit. But I was way too poor (or cheap) to purchase those $80 or even $40 movies back then. So I would record movies from broadcast or cable channels. I vaguely remember recording Star Wars when it...
