I just received my copy in the mail, and am I the only one surprised they didn't include a director's commentary that was on the Olive release? This is as bare bones as you can get. It is a pressed disc, not a BD-R.
I've owned the DVD of Born to Kill from the Film Noir Classic Collection Volume Two since 2005, but I never listened to Eddie's commentary on it. I need to rectify that soon.
I was thinking more of Clay's role in Mackintosh & T.J.
I agree Ron is the better actor, no doubt about that. Oh well, nice to discuss what-ifs, but the film is a fine one, just the way it is!
I received my copy yesterday as well, and like many others, I had to re-order this from Arrow since they cancelled my original pre-order.
This movie is a favorite of mine, and I am so happy to replace the old Paramount DVD from 2001. This blu-ray was a long time coming and it looks great to me...
Thanks for posting that review. I wanted to purchase this disc, as I have never seen this film, but I had concerns about this distributor and it looks like my concerns were valid. I'll pass on this one.
Yes, Kino announced this back in December. No release date given for this one.
2019 HD Master by Paramount Pictures – 4K Scan of 35mm Technicolor Successive Exposure Negative
Looks like a great upgrade from the Sony DVD collection released back in 2020. That older set didn’t include The Mark of the Whistler, which is standard definition in this new set. I wonder how good it will look.
I’m interested due to it having Ginger Rogers, but I don’t know anything about the film or the distributor Shoreline Entertainment. They claim to have a few classic films; https://shorelineentertainment.com/portfolio//classic-film/
From what George Feltenstein said on The Extra's Podcast, this release has sold well, and while they may not be on the books for a 2024 release, sounds like they will be releasing more Tarzan. Great news for all of us!
I missed the Shout Factory release, so I am very happy that Kino is releasing a 4K Scan (of the 35mm Interpositive), and at a lower retail price, while giving us a 4K UHD disc AND a blu-ray disc. Great stuff, and thanks Kino for combining the UHD disc and the Blu-ray together in the same...
Matinee at The Bijou. WOW! That brings up good memories of Scott DeVenney hosting and re-creating the movie-going experience from the past for those of us who were not around to experience it firsthand. I really enjoyed that show.
We can all play the "what if" game, but your thinking is that she would still have had an opportunity to direct in Hollywood. There are always restrictions, even now.
Your question wasn't directed to me, but I'm bummed that my Sling.tv DVR didn't record it either.
I'm glad to have the Imprint release, but I wanted to watch Eddie's intro/outro.
Oh, and I'm glad Lupino wasn't born 50 years later. Think of all the films she wouldn't be in or had directed. Think...
I splurged and bought quite a bit of titles this sale, and unfortunately with Kino's technical problem my wife knows the true nature of my "video addiction".
I moved to Brave and haven't looked back. I found it to be faster than Chrome, uses less memory, and is strong on privacy protection.
Oh, and you can use most Chrome plug-ins if you want.
