What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

Earlier this week, my copy of Elephant Films’ Werewolf (1987-1988) DVD set arrived from France. I knew the picture quality wasn’t ideal, but it’s still fun revisiting this show. It’s been a nice change of pace from watching some 1950s western shows.

Press Release Warner Archive Collection Press Release: The Alaskans: The Complete Series (1959-1960) (Blu-ray)

Yes, I just finished reading Ed Robertson's book on BHTS of Maverick and read about the sneaky way Warner recycled scripts! It will be fun to check out The Alaskans--I want to support these WA TV releases on Blu-ray to keep them motivated to release more obscure vintage TV shows in HD.

Press Release Warner Archive Collection Press Release: The Alaskans: The Complete Series (1959-1960) (Blu-ray)

Yes, the DVDs I do have are solid for SD--I'm just being greedy! :D

Press Release Warner Archive Collection Press Release: The Flash: The Original Series (1990-1991) (Blu-ray)

Yessssssssssss! I loved this show growing up and have cherished the DVD set for a long time, so I will happily upgrade to Blu-ray! I agree that this show is a lot more fun than the recent CW show.

Press Release Warner Archive Collection Press Release: The Alaskans: The Complete Series (1959-1960) (Blu-ray)

No Maverick (sigh), but I will gladly pick this one up, since I do enjoy the Roger Moore episodes of the former.

International Why Are Some Recently Released To Blu-ray U.S. Based TV Series Titles Now Available Only On DVD Via Canadian Vendors?

Another challenge being a Canadian trying to buy American goods lol. I resorted to setting up an American forwarding address to pick up USA-only products and have used it for Blu-rays as well. When I travel to the USA, I will also look into finding shops that sell these exclusive Blu-rays...

Fugitive comes to DVD in a 33 disc set on Nov. 1st 2011

It’s very likely, as it was when CBS was scanning all of its major TV shows in HD in the ‘00s. I think most of the classic TV shows released on Blu-ray by Paramount recently were transferred at around the same time. I don’t know how often the syndication bible is updated. (it lists shows...

The Avengers: The Emma Peel Collection (1965-1967) – Imprint Television #3 Unboxing

I never did get Network’s 50th anniversary Persuaders set that had the compilation movies, so I’m tempted too! (And getting a Prisoner set to replace my A&E set that has seen better days is on my mind…) I love the Studio Canal Avengers Blu-rays, so I’m content with them and not the Via Vision...

Fugitive comes to DVD in a 33 disc set on Nov. 1st 2011

I took a look at the CBS syndication bible recently and The Fugitive is now listed as being completely transferred to 4x3 HD—might it now be a good candidate for Blu-ray? (assuming the dreaded Heyes music has been removed)

Blu-ray Review The Rockford Files: The Complete Series Blu-ray Review

I’ve been revisiting “Rockfish” on Blu-ray a lot lately and enjoying it. Though not a perfect set, it’s a great presentation of one of TV’s finest detective shows. The more I watch Rockford Files, the more I want to watch James Garner in his other famous TV role in high definition—I’d love to...

Colt .45 - The Complete Series - Coming to Blu-Ray on March 12th '24 (Warner Archive)

Damn, after seeing the screenshots, I’m now compelled to pick up the set! It would be awesome if sales were strong enough to encourage Warner Archive to continue releasing vintage TV shows on Blu-ray (like Maverick)!

Fugitive comes to DVD in a 33 disc set on Nov. 1st 2011

I have the Most Wanted DVD set, but with Patamount releasing a trickle of ‘60s/‘70s TV shows on Blu-ray, I’d love to see David Janssen in HD (other than Warning Shot, Superdome, and Scream of the Wolf 😉)—with the correct music cues in place. For extra space, I moved all of my TV DVD sets to...

    Night Court on DVD?

I recently picked up Warner’s complete Night Court DVD set (the entire series cost as much as one of the Warner Archive season sets) and have enjoyed revisiting the first four seasons. I grew up with Night Court reruns while it was still on the air, so I still remember the episodes, though not...

Star Trek series physical media in the Paramount Plus era and legacy

There are definitely challenges associated with restoring DS9 and Voyager, as the CG FX would have to be redone (I’ve read conflicting reports as to the status/whereabouts of the original FX computer files) and I imagine it’s a lot of work locating the original film elements and then rescanning...

Star Trek series physical media in the Paramount Plus era and legacy

Of the new shows, I’ve only picked up season one of SNW on 4K—I don’t like steelbooks, so I’m waiting for the regular 4K edition of S2. I’m still disappointed that Picard S3 isn’t on 4K, but I’ll get around to picking up the entire series (though I really disliked S2–I found it went off the...

Twilight Zone - The COMPLETE Definitive Collection (28-Disc Set)?

What do people think of Rod Serling’s other anthology series, Night Gallery? I’d only read about it in Marc Scott Zicree’s fabulous Twilight Zone Companion book and despite the author’s mixed feelings on the series, it sounded intriguing! My only exposure to it was A&E’s repeated broadcasts of...

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

I'm still holding out hope that Paramount will release Picard S3 on 4K, after the issue is corrected. And since Bell Media in Canada has removed all of the new Star Treks from Crave (Canada's biggest domestic streamer) to their CTV Sci-Fi cable channel/VOD, I'm likely going to order the first...

Twilight Zone - The COMPLETE Definitive Collection (28-Disc Set)?

While I was impressed with Image's DVD releases, I knew I had to get the Blu-rays once they were announced and the show looks even better in glorious HD! It's fantastic that the "Big Three" sci-fi/fantasy shows of the '60s (TZ, Outer Limits, Star Trek) are available on Blu-ray. I am a weird TZ...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I just finished my latest revisit of The Prisoner (A&E Blu-ray)--it's still in my top 5 TV shows of all time! This morning, I started watching Hammer House of Horror (Network Blu-ray) again--such delightfully creepy, bewitching tales! I wish I had the OOP Via Vision set that has a lot...

    The Flash (1990-1991) series

I remember the TV special comic book, as I had already been reading and collecting The post-Crisis Wally West Flash series. It was especially helpful to learn of the episode titles, as they never appeared onscreen; I had recorded 20 of the 22 episodes on VHS and had created my own titles for...

What Show Are You Watching Now on DVD or Blu-ray?

I’m current revisiting my A&E Blu-ray set of The Prisoner. This is definitely a TV show that would look wonderful in 4K, but I’m very happy with my Blu-ray set. (I bought Network’s In My Mind documentary on Blu-ray long before Network went under.) I know the AMC remake mini-series is available...

    The Flash (1990-1991) series

I still have that Starlog in a box somewhere! I would love to see this series get an HD upgrade, even if they have to upscale the visual effects. I watched the CW Flash show, but lost interest halfway through its run.

    Network Goes into Liquidation

The Professionals was one of the last Network TV Blu-ray sets I needed, but I balked at the outrageous prices for the Complete Series set; I ended up buying the individual seasons for a much better price (the exchange rate from the pound to the Canadian dollar is the best it’s been in quite some...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

Via Vision in Australia released Rawhide S1 on Blu-ray (and it’s region free!) late last month. https://viavision.com.au/shop/rawhide-the-complete-first-season-blu-ray/

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I was going to continue with The Magician this morning, but my partner woke up early and she does not share my fondness for classic ‘60s/‘70s TV shows. (She prefers Married at First Sight or docu-series on cults. 😉) She graciously allowed me to watch the ‘80s Mission: Impossible pilot, the...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

Growing up in the ‘80s, I watched reruns of all the ‘60s spy classics except for Mission, which didn’t air where I lived in Western Canada at the time. My first exposure was the 1988-1990 TV sequel, which I enjoyed greatly (and still revisit via its own DVD releases), but once I saw the classic...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

All during the week, I watched one episode of Mission: Impossible a night from my Complete Series DVD set. I love all the ‘60s spy shows and MI is one of the best of them (at least the first three seasons). It compelled me to pull out my old Mission: Impossible: The Complete Dossier book. I’m...

Press Release PHE Press Release: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season One (Limited Edition SteelBook Blu-ray) (Blu-ray)

I enjoyed SNW much more than Discovery and Picard (though S3 is the best Trek season since new Trek started in 2017), so I pre-ordered the May 4K release. (I’m not crazy it’s a Steelbook, but it’s a minor complaint.) the series should look fantastic in 4K (all of the Star Trek shows, new and...

Scott Atwell Star Trek Discussion thread (Series and Films)

I know some people here aren’t crazy about Marc Cushman’s These Are the Voyages… BTS books, but I’ve been enjoying them since the pandemic began and I ordered a lot of books online to help cope (my DVD/Blu-ray library helped too). I’m currently reading his “Gene Roddenberry and Star Trek in the...
