Bryan - I did not know that standard editions had been released as I was referring to the 3 disc limited editions as you correctly recognized.
Thanks for letting me know although my wallet will hate you for it :D

Not quite on topic (count me in for the UHD release!), I just wanted to say that I really liked the distinctive artwork that Criterion had for its laserdisc releases. The one for Oz as posted earlier is particular favorite alongside likes of Blade Runner and The Third Man!
Can’t explain but...
Happy to hear that the presentations are good!
No doubt that these will be released here in the USA eventually but has anybody heard of a timeline? These are OOP and are commanding high prices on places like eBay.
Bring on all of John Carpenter’s work in UHD is what I say :D

I have several of the titles listed as I’m sure most other folks here do and no intention of selling them.
The top two are the Hellraiser set (unwrapped) and The Third Man (Criterion). The latter is amongst my absolute favorite films of all time although I watch the Region B release most...
As has happened before, I was going to just spot check the 4K on my 65’ Sony XBR (my projector setup is only 1080P) but with a very quality release (except lack of Atmos is disappointing) of a movie I love I ended up watching the entire movie on from the discovery of the Space Jockey - Simply...
If “The Birth of A Nation” can be released with its controversial content then why can’t “Song of The South” ?
And if they cut out the crows sequence from “Dumbo” then that is utterly ridiculous as it’s critical part of this wonderful movie which is already lean and mean. Looking at the...
Spot on observation by Reggie W above:thumbs-up-smiley: as far as I’m concerned.
Great movie and really happy to see it get a Region A release - never thought it would happen unless Criterion or some other boutique label got its hands on it.

I am definitely a fan of Buster Keaton but will sit out this release as I have the Eureka release from region B which features these from a 4K restoration - they look fantastic!

Absolutely agree on the sense of humor - it is truly one of the great aspects of this board. Some of it’s obvious and some very subtle but in majority of cases put together with intelligence and love for this hobby of ours.

That is so disappointing to read - I was hoping that we might finally be getting a decent release for this classic. Just have to stick with the dvd until further notice

Got my copy yesterday and totally agree in that this is a wonderful release. Put in the blu Ray intending to sample it but ended up sampling the entire movie!
If Kino can go back and make “A Fistful of Dollars” and “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” look consistent with this release ;) And get us...
I had already decided not to buy this based upon the previous performance of Kino Lorber on their releases of the first and last parts of the Leone’s Dollar trilogy but given RAH’s stamp of approval and high praise indeed then I am left with no option for yet another visit, on a different disc...
With certain select directors/movies I have bought two copies, particularly if it is a “truly” special edition. E.g Lawrence of Arabia in the gorgeous “white” box release. Why ? It’s part of the god forbid but if the house burns down you have a backup elsewhere :)
I would definitely be up for...
This one is in much need of brand new transfer preferably going back to the negative but I very much doubt that this will happen anytime soon. Day one purchase!

Very sad news. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans. Rest In Peace Mr Redman you will be sorely missed.
And a big thank you for all you did for fellow enthusiasts!

Plus when one or more deleted/missing/extended footage is put back into a movie => restored ?
Definitely swamp thing and that’s coming from me the one with least technical knowledge in this field!

What ? PMF putting in plug for “Ryan’s Daughter” ? Nah give me a break:) Next you’ll be telling me that the Earth is an oblate spheroid :P
Regards,
P.S Keep the plugs coming!
The teaser poster is indeed good but it’s the classic egg poster for me all the way. I did have an original of the egg before it got “misplaced” during a house move. Not been able to get another due to cost. That image along with review/ad spots with John Hurt discovering the egg were very...
“A Christmas Carol” is such a good story and there are so many versions of it (non-musical, musical, animated etc...) that it’s not surprising that there is good spread of what is believed to be the best. Different aspects appeal to different people, maybe which one they saw first, perhaps with...
This was on TCM earlier this week. I enjoyed watching it even though it’s probably the fifth time. Not sure where I would put it in my personal ranking of this great Dickens classic although it would have to be below 1

That’s torn it - somebody has mentioned 3D and one of his movies that hasn’t suffered a conversion!
This will mean a new multi decade project in which a few minutes will be spent each year preparing a new 3D master between new Avatar sequels (which we are all dying to see - cough cough - as...
