Aren't there more famous series than this for WAC to release?
Anyway, nothing for me this month I guess, except maybe Hitchcock?
I love his films but don't remember this one (although I have seen it), I think it may be among my least favorite from him.
I'm in the middle now of
Spectacular production (and blu-ray), although to tell you the truth I think I prefer The Greatest Story ever told, and of course Jesus of Nazareth, for a depiction of the whole story of Jesus.
Easter is coming here in Greece, and I've started watching again biblical films. My favorite time of year for watching such films.
There is something about them, the epicness, the music, the sets, the costumes, the cinematography, that makes them perfect candidates for blu-ray/UHD.
Last night...
Yeah, buying blu-rays/4Ks is way more expensive for us international customers than US citizens.
We can't take advantage of sales like Criterion sales, Kino sales, Shout sales or exclusive releases..
I love Alec Baldwin :emoji_heart: and I would like to purchase this film only for him, but it's available only in US!
I guess I should find and buy an expensive copy from ebay again!
Not $50 but I would pay as much as $100* on day one for unmolested 4ks of True Lies, The Abyss, Terminator 1 & 2 (the blu-ray for Aliens is enough for me).
Also Raintree County.
Sorry but I think all 5 choices are un-realistic!
*I have paid lately as much as 118 euros for OOP discs, so $50...
Now that North by Northwest 4k is coming https://shop.warnerbros.co.uk/collections/pre-order/products/north-by-northwest-ultimate-collector-s-edition-with-steelbook-4k-ultra-hd-1959, I wanted to ask something (Sorry, I think I have asked this again)
1) I guess there won't be a box with all 15...
I know screenshot comparisons are frowned upon around here, but I thought to post this anyway.
A comparison between an old HD version and the new blu-ray that I found.
(apologies for not posting the exact same frame)
It's up to you now what do you prefer...

Well, the screenshots in Criterion's site look good. Not the piss-yellow tint I was afraid of from the new 4k restoration:

If you don't mind waiting for a standard edition (which will eventually come I'm sure) and importing, the Arrow UK release has much better compression/encoding.
Unless you aren't bothered by such things...
I don't suppose anyone can grab any actual screenshots that compare to these ones, https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&a=0&d1=17850&d2=15873&s1=202499&s2=168136&i=0&l=0 to see if the teal and yellow are gone, as they say in the other forum?
Also, I read there's an audio sync issue.
Let me get this straight:
All the other companies and studios that release wonderful restorations of films (and most of the times some unknown horror b-movies or something) are addressed to purists only?
I didn't see anyone complaining then that they would love a degrained AI upscaled film..
I'm really confident that now that we saw the Cameron fiasco regarding the home cinema versions of his films, someone or some persons will newly scan original prints and make the definite versions WITH grain, like the "4KXX" Star Wars projects.
It's just a matter of time.
Nevertheless, I have...
