Are you talking about the Blade Runner screening at the Fairfax? That was the one where I believe it was discovered that the 70mm print was actually the preview version. I was there and it was May 6, 1990.
I had the same experience with THE OMEN. The transfer on VUDU looks to me exactly like the old blu-ray I've had for several years. So it appears they have the older transfer.
I've noticed that TCM web access movies tend to do this [i.e. stutter on pans and movement]. It's why I don't usually watch them. DVR does not have that effect.
My COWBOYS blu-ray went bad four years ago. I contacted Warner and they very quickly replaced it. At the same time, I had a ROCKY HORROR disc go bad. Fox demanded that I send them pictures of it and after doing so, they declined to do anything.
I had exactly the same reaction. The 2002 dvd came from a way better (photographically) element. The blu-ray is soft, contrasty and dupey-looking. It's the first time I've ever preferred a dvd to a blu-ray.
I had the same problem three years ago. E-mailed Warners and they replaced it and sent me a prepaid mailer to send in the bad disc. I had a similar problem with ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW at the same time. Fox declined to do anything.
