The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

Yeah – so politically incorrect that they remade it a few years ago! Do you know that ? Not to mention tough place when the moderators take sides rather than just moderating.

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

I'm guessing that being "A Tale of Christ" might be turn off / politically incorrect in these times. Personally, one of my favorite films of all time.

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

First Academy ratio film on UHD BD ? I know and have War of the Worlds (1953) on Kaleidescape in UHD 4K as I do Lawrence in UHD 4K.

It's breaking the number one rule however. It takes an order of magnitude more effort to dispel BS than it does to produce it. I think it got reversed.

Yes that is where I got Silent Star.

THIS ISLAND EARTH (1955) on Blu-Ray – when?

Yea , the only example I have of Silent Star is a non-anamorphic DVD ! The only thing I don't like about the film is the fact that the doctor is the child of Hiroshima so it sets the date of the entire film not at some time in the future but right around 1975.

Dental Implants - Thoughts and Experiences

John, Without going into too much this is my work. First, Orthodontists shouldn't be extracting teeth or placing implants it isn't their specialty and in my state it's illegal. Second it is true that the opposing tooth in the upper arch can and frequently will erupt into the space left in the...

UHD James Bond films in Ultra HD blu Ray?

I certainly hope you are right. Discs still provide the best quality option and I don't have high enough internet speed here to stream 4K anyway.

UHD Review 2001: A Space Odyssey UHD Review

I appreciate this post I was thinking that I have to be the only guy on the planet doing this. I usually watch another movie first ( last night Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid in 4K) and then watch parts of 2001 again. My son walked in last night and said " again ! "

UHD Review 2001: A Space Odyssey UHD Review

Josh, I've only seen 2001 projected in 70mm once as an adult and the same junk was visible in many shots but the margins of the reflective material was not nearly as well delineated as in the Blu Ray. The new UHD looks fantastic in this regard IMO also.

Waiting for Lawrence of Arabia and 2001 4K

Different time. I don't disagree with your position especially since I'm hopeful it will come but at the same time the nagging truth is physical media is moribund.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Giant Behemoth - in Blu-ray

The name is mentioned a few times in the film pronounced differently each time but understandable as one is an American, one upper class Brit the other a fisherman making a biblical reference as he dies. Never though is it pronounced beemuth.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Giant Behemoth - in Blu-ray

I watched it over the weekend, this was my first time for the film and enjoyed it very much. I had gone in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised at the acting being pretty good. The mating of the Behemoth to the backgrounds was not great at times but still acceptable knowing what...

Pre-Order The Giant Behemoth (1959) (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

I watched The Giant Behemoth last night. It actually looks pretty good. I was surprised, having never seen it , that the story is a little better than the average nuclear- contamination- makes- an -oversized -creature -of -destruction film.

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ 2001: a space odyssey -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

I think this whole discussion about the chairs is like the tunnel topic. The lighting in the room and the color balance used for the film in the scene make all the difference. By the way ,if you look at the stills the seats in the waiting area outside the voice print identification are the same...

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ 2001: a space odyssey -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

Yea I get it I just wonder if the color timing of the film we see on the 4KDCP and UHD disc is what was intended in 1968 by Kubrick nothing more. The chairs being red in the stills, and at the museum are certainly clues. The blue discovery is different from any film I saw of this. The chairs...

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ 2001: a space odyssey -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

So based on that the stills are all over as far as color. The ones where they are purple however looks like a faded film image . I have about twenty stills including all of those in the Taschen book they are all red. So the conclusion from that article is.....?

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ 2001: a space odyssey -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

Yes look at how blue the Discovery looks in some shots from the front as the pod by doors open etc. I think skin tones are overly reddish on the discovery as well. The chairs on the Space station during the Floyd Smyslov scene are also quite pushed towards fuchsia than the actual red of the...

UHD Review FIRST MAN 4K UHD Review

I appreciate your review. I do disagree on a few points. The video portion is not reference by any means IMO. Very few scenes look like 4K resolution ..there are a few. Audio wise the Atmos has very little from the height channels and, unfortunately, the bass is truncated having nothing below...

UHD Review 2001: A Space Odyssey UHD Review

Do any of you have a full Atmos set up ? Just asking because at least to me the extraction from the Dawn of Man possible that gives full immersion particularly in the ape altercation scenes but also the leopard growling at night seem much more believable and robust in the "restored " track at...
