Dolby Cinema tells us how great Dolby Cinema is when we're in the DC auditorium. IMAX touts IMAX when we're in the IMAX auditorium. All chains have those "hey, you're at Regal/AMC/whoever!" bumpers and they have for years. I agree they seem pointless, but there must be some added "brand...

Saw 6 - count 'em, 6! - movies 10/31-11/4. -Creator: C+: looked great but derivative and lost steam as it went -Exorcist: Believer - C-: not TERRIBLE but dull and pointless -Five Nights at Freddy's: C: watchable but lots of plot contrivances and a general lack of logic -Saw X: C-: same old...

The Cinemark program barely sounds like it's worth the effort. I guess my friend - and especially her husband - go to enough movies that it'll work for them, but they dearly miss the splendors of A-List!

Friend of mine just moved to Massachusetts and is stuck with Cinemark, which apparently has a "membership program" that sucks - at least compared to AMC A-List or Regal Unlimited. She and her husband love movies so she ain't happy!

Sorry if this got answered previously in this long thread, but have we ever learned how AMC and Regal "count" A-List/Unlimited tickets toward box office reports? Curious to know how they decide the price of a ticket "purchased" under those plans.

Saw "Strange World" 3D tonight. Good 3D, dull movie. Not surprised it's bombed, as it's utterly generic. Just feels cobbled together from other Disney flicks and it lacks even the most modest hint of its own personality. I was the only one at my screening, and I'd occasionally check my phone...

I knew that Regal didn't include "premium" with unlimited, but I didn't realize they charged for online ticketing. I never intended to change - AMC is closer and for me, 3 movies/week is basically "unlimited" because I almost never desire to go to more than that - but a friend was thinking...

"Signature Entertainment" is the distributor. Dunno if it's limited or not, but it's not getting a lot of screens. Looked on the AMC app and it's at maybe 25% of the local AMCs. I think that's how I heard of it: it popped up on the app for my closest AMC when I scrolled to see what was playing.

Today's A-List movie: "The Estate". Black comedy about a bunch of cousins who compete to win favor of their dying wealthy aunt to inherit her fortune. Sometimes I see a movie that seems like it hits all the right notes and should entertain me but just doesn't. That's "The Estate" in a...

It's not a classic but it's about what I expected. "Smile" and "Woman King" were disappointments based on reviews.

Out in Vegas last week and went A-List nuts: 6 movies in 4 days! (Before anyone gives me crap that I spent so much of my trip at theaters: this was my 5th trip to Vegas in 4 years. I don't gamble, I don't drink, and I've done all the tourist stuff. So there! :D) What I saw: -Halloween...

I actually thought it was possible I lurked for a while and didn't actually post until 7/01, but since Tino's cutoff was the same, it's clear that's just where "old posts" end in terms of availability to us...

There must be a way to search the site and get back to your first post! I'm too lazy to investigate but it must be possible!

Used A-List to see "Bros" today. Based on trailers and the talent involved, I thought it'd be a funny take on the rom-com. Yikes, was I wrong. Billy Eichner creates one of the least likable characters imaginable for this sort of movie and rarely removes his apparently permanent scowl, even...

I did know what was going on but still found the movie largely unsatisfying. I already chewed that fat in the dedicated thread, so I won't whine too much here! :D

It's going up $1 across the board, right? I'm "2nd tier" pricing here in the DC area, and I'm going from $21.95 to $22.95.

Ha ha - I didn't see this until after I posted my comments about the movie. Humor is awfully subjective, I guess. I'm a "tough laugh" but I thought this one was amusing.

Saw "DC's League of Super Pets" today for A-List. Wasn't jazzed but it was the only movie I'd not seen playing at a convenient time, so I went. Very nice pleasant surprise. It's not groundbreaking but it's funny and smart and satisfying for adults as well as kids. Only complaint: the...

Used all 3 of my A-List slots this week - not typical for me! -Death on the Nile: not great but mostly enjoyable. Liked it. -Get Back: wish PJ had solely focused on the actual band performance, but it's Beatles and I love them so it was fun. -Sundown: a definite "what the heck was that?"...

I find the Cameo to be the perfect size - if completely filled, that is. 99% of the time, the employees dump popcorn in the bag in a way that leaves lots of empty space. The bag is superficially full but when you pat the bag and the popcorn "settles", there's always room for more. Sometimes...

Okay, I'll defer to you guys that large popcorns are 1 refill only. I hardly ever get a large popcorn - I go Cameo - and I only ever get a refill of the large as I'm leaving. Even that if just to "top it off", as I barely make a dent in a large popcorn. That's a huge tub of popcorn! I know...

AMC A-List & other theater subscriptions

For A-listers, this deal is only worthwhile if you get the Cameo Combo on that day. A-List already gives you a free upgrade from "regular" to "large" popcorn - and the large comes with free refills anyway.
