I didn’t find a dedicate thread for Sofabaton remotes, so here’s a positive, recent review on the newer remotes as possible Harmony replacement. (Caveat, it’s Cnet and they’re cashing out on a 20 year old reputation it seems.)

It would be great to have a good new option in a few years. But I'm super skeptical of these unfunded, hyper-niche, hardware projects.
Hey Siri, remind me to check this thread in four years! :)
Apropos only of remotes, I finally learned how to get the AppleTV “Home” command to work on my URC MX-780. So good to know that if my Harmony kicks off, I can still get along with a URC line.
Logitech committed to keeping the service working for the immediate future. I think they’ll eventually stop updating the app, and it will break when an iOS update breaks it in a year or two?
I'm mostly IR only. I think the AppleTV might be comanded by WiFi? My receiver is too old to support IP or bluetooth control. The TiVo Roamio is wifi only; I don't know of a way to command it by bluetooth or wifi for faster response.
The Harmony Elite sees my smart lock and thermostats by wifi...
I think these are what you’re looking for. I found editing some soft buttons not obvious and took some trial to find the options. At one point my remote got out of sync with the app. Took a while to fix. But I’ve gotten to to do what I want within Harmony’s abilities...
You can’t update the remote if you’re using a recent version of macOS. My Harmony One was frozen in time.
That’s why I bought a new Harmony last year around when I got a new TV. I knew I couldn’t update my One programming so needed a new remote now that I was upgrading gear.
The config app for the One is not supported for the last two (?) macOS versions. Tested and confirmed personally.
I’ve found the mobile app to work nearly identically and as well as the older desktop app.
Remote Central and HiFi-Remote helped me a lot do great things with my Radio-Shack 15-1994. This was the absolute best value remote back around 2000. But I never went so far as to get into the JP1 programming.

Can’t pick it up and simply change the volume by touch, without looking at it.
Using a tablet / phone adds extra friction for me: Gotta unlock it, swipe, search, launch the app, look at the screen, tap the button. And gotta keep it plugged in a charged.
Remote: pick up and press volume. Change...
“Most people”, no. But there are $5,000 and $20,000 projectors in the those same stores that “most people” won’t buy. But enthusiasts will. And they buy those $300 remotes.
This is classic big-business business thinking: they’re giving up 6% of their revenue because they don’t want “singles”...
I’ve used the Harmony iPhone app remote, and it confirmed I much prefer a dedicated, hard-button remote control. Apps are helpful, but I don’t relish that being my only option in the future.
The universal remotes are also getting hammered, I believe, by the proprietary Bluetooth and WiFi solutions like AppleTV remote or PlayStation / Xbox controllers. Harmony is still substantially limited to dumb, slow IR and can’t do all the commands that the newer, first-party remotes do.
There...
The Harmony Elite (the most recent, flagship remote from Harmony) is not great. It’s not as good as their sublime Harmony One. Battery life is lousy. The charger is fussier and harder to get the remote seated right. The button layout is worse and more confusing than the one. The touchscreen is...
The URC MXC-780 is a customer installer remote. It’s the low-end of the line, but it’s in that “$1000” class remotes. I got a copy of the software from the installer and have stumbled through learning the basics of programming. Thank goodness, because paying $100/hr for remote updates is not in...
I’ve been a universal remote user since about 1999. I’ve been a Harmony owner for probably 15+ years. I don’t want to live in a world without universal remotes. The cacophony of living with multiple garbage remotes like the AppleTV remote is too horrible to imagine.
I’m good for now. I’ve got...
