Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Good call! You either had great inside Intel, or that was a fantastic guess! Either way, glad to see that series is headed our way!

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

For any that haven’t been following, David @ClassicFlix mentioned that Angel will hopefully be released this September. Great news for us b&w TV fans! Gary “I believe this series will be released in 3 volumes” O.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Agreed. And would vastly prefer Cheyenne between those two. But my guess is it will be Maverick. Gary “have really been enjoying Colt .45” O.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

You're right. If that's being worked on, it could be The Alaskans. A couple of other possibilities would include Temple Houston and Bourbon Street Beat. Or WB Presents and Conflict. There were a few WB comedies that only lasted one season. An upgrade of The Dakotas (already released on DVD) or...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

While Matthau isn't my favorite actor, I'd love to see the location work. ;)

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I’m sure there are, but I have to admit when I began this thread so long ago I would’ve never expected it to carry-on like it has. So if we are keeping track for 2024 what if we got so far this year? Already released: The Abbott and Costello Show S2 Colt .45 Complete Series Upcoming: Angel...

Don’t worry about it, Lou. That’s the gist of this entire thread, courtesy of moi. Gary “ :D “ O.

Still haven't seen this up for pre-order. Hopefully as soon as it pops up somewhere online one of you can post the link. I'm anxious to order this one. Gary "same holds for any and every ClassicFlix release" O.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I didn't want to come off as being too pushy or greedy. Gary "even though, when it comes to b&w TV on DVD/BR, I am" O. ;)

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

So I think I've found a discernable pattern. Every time I resurrect this thread and suggest that no more b&w titles seem to be forthcoming, we get news of something new coming! This is concrete proof that every studio and physical media company monitors this particular thread and waits until I...

Absolutely fantastic news, Josh! Thank you so much for thinking of this thread and posting! Gary “great way to start off the new new year“ O.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

So officially (i.e. a definitive street date), we have 1 new b&w release scheduled for 2024: The Abbott & Costello Show S2. I know David @ClassicFlix has said they have a few things in the pipeline, but nothing has been officially announced yet. So am I missing another official announcement for...

Yep. Filmed at Desilu Studios, but not a CBS/Paramount property.

And that, David, is the reason you aren’t just an “Insider” here. You’re one of us! Thanks again for your love of vintage film and TV, and all you do!!

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

David, thank you so much for the wonderful insider info on the upcoming release. And also the honest assessment of where the industry as a whole is. It's been no secret that we are, as you say, "in the twilight" of the home video market. And I'm so happy that an outfit like ClassicFlix has a...

Glad to hear I'm not the only one enjoying these wonderful vintage releases from ClassicFlix!!! Gary "so happy for you, Randall, that the series is one of your favorites - Angel" O. :dancing-banana-04:

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I'd sure love to get an update. Either David hasn't seen this thread since our comments have been posted, or he simply doesn't have any more current information he can share. But either way, I must admit I'm curious and hopeful we hear something in the near future. Can anyone document a year...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I imagine many of us are waiting anxiously to hear from David @ClassicFlix concerning that early 60's sitcom he mentioned some time back. Hope nothing happened to upend that one. Gary "there's also the additional concern about the entire physical media market slowing down - that doesn't help...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

WARNING - Brief History Reminder Coming: This partial paragraph came from my initial post after starting this thread over a decade ago. Some of us will remember the golden age of vintage releases hitting on all cylinders up through the fall of 2008. We were getting a ton of b&w and early...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

You’re the man, Randall! That post is why you are one of my favorites here at HTF. A kindred soul to be sure. Many blessings, my friend! And I echo what Jeff wrote: thanks to everyone that has participated over the last couple of days. These are the kind of discussions that make this forum fun...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

This is not exact, but from a quick scan of things it looks like my ratio is indeed about 75%-80% b&w. And I really do agree with Josh. The b&w stuff gets far more play than the color stuff. And that’s not a put down. The color shows I own are well done, and I have returned to almost all of them...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Jeff, I really appreciate your idea. I certainly don’t want the thread to devolve into constant discouraging conversation from me. I haven’t done an actual spreadsheet count at present so I’m not really sure about the ratio in my library. But I’ll look into that and share it here ASAP...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I know. Wish I could be Pollyanna on this topic. But other than a few choice morsels from MPI (O&H) and ClassicFlix (several fantastic releases) - and they have been wonderful morsels - the overall landscape hasn't been trending in our favor at all recently. And nothing on the horizon looks to...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

The Last Dinosaur… Not the Richard Boone 70’s film. The few of us remaining who wish we would see more glorious black-and-white TV released. Things look really grim. Perhaps worse than ever. Kino has gone hog wild on 70’s and up stuff. MPI finishing up O&H and no indication of further classic...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Let me know if I'm missing something... We have only a couple of releases left for the year (up to this point in the announcement schedule): The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet S13 & S14 (and yes, I know S14 is in color, but you get my drift) World of Giants A&C Show Season 2 (possibly by the...
