The telltale sign is the horrendous stock music that makes edits obvious, so even if I don't know the episode well I hear the edit. Had they used a cheap "real" song from the era the edits would've been smoother.
Jan Smithers, Loni Anderson and Tim Reid are going to be at the Hollywood Show next weekend in Los Angeles. If Hessman or Bonner were to be there I would go to try to get more info on the Contest reshoot, but I doubt those three would have much recollection...
I've often wondered this as well, especially since seeing both a Zenyatta Mondatta and Ghost in the Machine poster featured prominently behind the Djs.
I thought season one was weak as well, but season three has those terrible Herb episodes you have to wade through to get to the gems, so it may give the appearance that the magic was gone, but I think it was just misguided until a fourth season rebound.
The Shout! version of Herb's Dad had an unsweetened track, as did A Mile in My Shoes (the wrong audio tracks). You can hear the difference on Jaime's site. Shout made quite a few errors
I haven't edited anything, just made sure I had all the clips I needed to begin. I still need the Plastic Ono clip (which I'm not sweating) and better clips of Bah Humbug, (right now using the VHS release as source, won't use antenna tv's bugged version) The clips I couldn't download from...
According to song list posted in this thread it is Living Voices:Sleigh Ride. Baseball ended with banjo music over end credits that has yet to be identified...
Anything to bump this thread :D
I just did two screen grabs because it was mentioned earlier in this thread... Goodbye Johnny opening Fox (1st photo ) vs Shout
There are sellers on EBAY selling it for $44 dollars shipped, but I've heard some are bootlegs... YMMV, but if you get a bootleg you can file a claim with ebay...
Target has 10% off with cartwheel app this week so you can get season one & two for $13.50 each. I guess another 5% off w Target red card. Better art & a deal if you don't care about the complete series box & so so bonus disc.
The quality of the tape is bad, about as good as a torrent...If I can find my hq dvd - r i'll post it somewhere... the dvd-r i checked footage against is an slp recording on a xmas compilation I made.
Supposedly antenna TV shows it with everything but shaboom, but in Los Angeles there is a...
That one, Ry Cooder in Baby It's Cold Inside, Tim Reid in Up & Down , and 61 Clay in Most Improved were never updated in list...
Also in dietcola's syndicated cut list, there is mention of more missing footage on shout set, Andy walking in and saying "Morning" in end tag in The Union...
If...
You have the Plastic Ono cut in Venus & the Man?
Other than Jaime's site haven't found a Mile in My Shoes. But I'm going to try to replace the whole audio track with a sweetened track.
Right before the airplane footage with the clips of all the DJs asking everyone to honk. Johnny is talking over it reminding everyone to honk at 1 o'clock...
Just now noticed the Monday Night Football theme is in the Chemicals commercial in A Family Affair...
Just watched Til Debt Do Us Part, the commercial music that opened the episode was replaced. The original sounds familiar... "Herb Alpert Dating Game-ish" but I don't know the piece.
This is REALLY nit picking, but I just watched Filthy Pictures and noticed in the first scene (after Johnny lights Les' paper on fire)before the cut Johnny spins a record, and you hear the first chord of the record, only the Shout set fades the chord where you can barely hear it. It's an abrupt...
Thanks, I saw the footage there, but Jaime won't allow a download. That piece & the Hendrix bit from A Family Affair are the only bits I haven't been able to attain.
I found a site that you can download bug-less footage that has a lot of material needed, but your computer is fighting trojans...
I think whomever was responsible for the syndicated edits did an outstanding job, and in many cases improved the episode. (I know, some of you strongly disagree)
Three examples -
In the original cut of Americanization of Ivan, Ivan tips his hand in the DJ booth before facing his comrades...
Obtuse posted this somewhere in the thread -
S3 Ep. 3 Real Families:
3 music changes. Running time 24:50
Real Families theme music/intro has been changed. Johnny Olsen's voice gone.
The Rolling Stones -She's So Cold (in background during Bailey's interview) replaced by Jackson Browne-That...
I was only able to find one of my WKRP scripts, Who is Gordon Sims, there is no production number on it, and since it is very different from the final version, I'm assuming it is the writer's draft. Sorry no help for those of you asking about music cues in the scripts. I thought I had Frog...
^I think that's the first it has been mentioned.
Antenna TV aired For Love or Money Yesterday and watching it reminded me of the significant amount of records that were added to my collection because of WKRP. And how the scenes still trigger when I hear the song... Can't help but think of...
I have a couple of scripts in storage somewhere that were submitted as writing samples. I haven't looked at them in over a decade, but I don't remember music cues in them, although, for all I remember, they could have been episodes w/o music.... I'll see if I can find them later in the week.
A big percentage of the shows with replacements are episodes that I don't care to revisit (Family Affair, Doctor's Daughter, Put Up or Shut Up,Out to Lunch, Til Debt Do Us Part, Venus & The Man, You Can't Go Out of Town, Jennifer & Johnny's Charity) so I'm not really concerned with fixing those...
