Not All Movie Rewards Programs Are Created Equal

I checked and Disney does not appear to be giving rewards points for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes tickets. I thought they might because they have done this before with 20th Century Not Fox releases that aren't rated R. Apes is PG-13 and seems about the same as a standard Marvel movie in...

The best Universal reward I ever got was The Art of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World book. The closure of the program is unfortunate. But rewards of this nature are rare anyway. As far as I know, they've never offered anything else like it before or since. It is the only time I...

The Blu-ray looks quite nice but it is totally barebones. You might want to hang onto the DVD as well, if its extras are important to you.

Disney's policy is not to offer reward points with R-rated titles. The Abyss qualifies because it is PG-13. Aliens and True Lies don't because they are R.

The "Best of Mickey" release is the first time Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 has been released since 2010, so it's a big deal for that to be available in stores now. The others like Peter Pan and Snow White already have other editions currently available in stores. But this would be a new way for...

That is exactly what Cinderella had. 100 points but no digital. (I redeemed it because I had loaned out the DVD copy inside my Blu-ray and never got it back. I wanted the case to be full again.)

I think this is the second time they have done this. I agree with your surprise because I'm not sure how many people will want a DVD, but there is some precedent for this. The 2012 DVD-only version of Cinderella was a Hot Reward on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Honestly, I am surprised they...

I've never understood the appeal of mystery discs as rewards. If they give you something you already own, then you're stuck with it and out of luck. People who are registered with the Disney points program probably have a lot of Disney discs, so the likelihood of you getting something new...

Mei's right eye being in a wink state seems weird to me. I also don't know about having a stuffed animal representing a teenage girl. So I'll probably pass on this week. The Soul hat is kind of tempting, but I really don't have much use for it as I already have other Disney hats that I...

I got a shipping notice for the quote book. That Pixar book is currently going for $16.99 on Amazon. From a glance at the table of contents, it appears to include new illustrated stories featuring Pixar characters rather than a written retelling of the events in the movies. I don't feel like...

The code CHEERS2024 was posted on Disney Movie Insiders social media accounts. It is worth 10 points. Not as good as the logical number, which would've been 24, but I'll take it.

Sorry to dash your hopes, but I just entered BYE2023 and it is not worth extra. It generated 5 points as all the other free codes this month have done. A year or two ago I vaguely remember the Friday codes were worth 15 to cover for the weekend. I guess Disney is in a less generous mood this...

Disney is currently offering double points for Wish tickets with showtimes through November 28. I think this movie is the worst thing Disney has put out in the last several years, so I wouldn't recommend it. But if you are going, you might as well get the extra points for it.

Not All Movie Rewards Programs Are Created Equal

A Haunting in Venice (a 20th Century Not Fox title) is eligible for Disney points for movie tickets. They don't always do this for 20th titles, but I guess this one is considered appropriate enough to tangentially associate it with the Disney brand in this way. They're offering double points...

Thank you for your work maintaining this thread, David. It's nice to see the the Elemental rewards becoming generally available instead of being behind the tickets paywall. I did go to Elemental in theaters but only once, so didn't have enough tickets to unlock them before. I redeemed the mug...

This takes me back. Way back a long time ago in the early Disney Movie Rewards days, they used to offer audio CDs as rewards from time to time. I remember once redeeming the soundtrack for The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe as a reward. There also used to be a way you could insert an...

Now that's interesting. I wonder if they will be increasing the price of all the Hot Rewards outright. Obviously, I hope not, but we'll have to wait and see. I'm surprised the discontinuation of the app generated so much more discussion than this part of their updated policy. So IMAX and 3D...

What hassle? It took me less than five minutes and I got points that I redeemed for something I like. I think that's a benefit. But if you don't want the free points, do as you will.

I wouldn't even analyze it to that degree myself. Running the app is not likely a significant contributor to Disney's financial situation. My guess is that it is as simple as not a lot of people were using it so they just decided to get rid of it.

Not All Movie Rewards Programs Are Created Equal

I don't see any reason to assume that getting rid of the app means anything as far as getting rid of the program. Disney Movie Rewards existed for a long time before they introduced the app, and there is no reason Insiders can't continue after the end of the app. It just means they're getting...
