This is wishful thinking. Look at the original documentary and they tell of Foxs search for the material several years ago. ONly a few dailies showed up. Hardly anything to reconstruct a film around.

I would love to see the long Cleopatra. I'm afraid that the chance of it existing is very small. Remember that Cleo ended up being a big power play between Mankiewicz(sp) and Zanuck. I'm sure that Zanuck would destroy Manks version just to cover his butt so that no one could go back to it...

This ia all exciting - I love Cleopatra - but to be realistic Fox searched several years for the long version and didn't find much - too bad the rough long cut that Mankiewicz brought to Zanuck in Paris doesn't turn up.
