Someone needs to explain why some people consider these "lost episodes." Is it that they were never put in syndication?

Over on the "Dennis the Menace" thread someone speculated that Shout! agreed to advertise the MPI set in return for being allowed to use the Season 3 Donna Reed episode that features Jay North as Dennis as a bonus on the Dennis set. This might be true, although "Donna Reed" Season 3 wasn't...

OK ... I knew they ran short. I dislike timesped episodes just as much as cut ones.

I agree except for the Doris Day show. They used cut prints for all five seasons!

On this forum, I suggested the Donna Reed heirs use Lucille Ball's heirs as role models ... and it seems as if they are, going with MPI which did "Here's Lucy." Now they have to be willing to spend some money on restoration and not just pull crummy old syndicated prints off the shelves.

There is a precedent for this, if I'm not mistaken. The children of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz inherited HERE'S LUCY and THE MOTHERS-IN-LAW and have done a really good job of getting those out on DVD. It can be done. I'd like to see Mary Owen get in touch with the Arnazes. Of course...
