I wasn't even aware that this film's original ratio was in a scope format -- I always believed it to be the 1.85:1 as seen on HBO/Rysher's DVD. That's very interesting. I was thinking of upgrading to Kino's 4K version, but we only watch it around the holidays...

Thanks for joining the thread, Janet -- and I am SO sorry to hear about your husband. My sincere condolences. Please contribute more whenever you watch a DVD; we look forward to your contributions!

I have both The Rock Criterion Collection and Pearl Harbor Director's Cut DVDs, and both still hold up on a larger screen. I had the non-Criterion DVD of Armageddon, but because it was non-anamorphic, I upgraded it to the Blu-ray.

Before the Director's Cut came out, the film WAS available in the theatrical cut -- I owned it as a fullscreen DVD.

Jesus Christ on a Saltine Cracker... I have The Accountant on Blu-ray (they're making a sequel), had Daredevil as a full screen DVD and want to get Sum of All Fears on 4K..... I don't like the Director's Cut of Daredevil, but it's the only version available on Blu-ray -- I'll rebuy this if it...

Wait -- what are you saying here about Exorcist II? What kind of treatment would you like to see it get? Scream Factory already released a two-disc Collector's Edition Blu, and it's probably gonna be the "definitive" version of this turd in the franchise (I actually own it, because there's...

Damn...maybe one day I'll be able to afford (or have the space for) a screen that large. What brand and type of panel is it...OLED, FALD LCD, edge lit? Makes sense. I hear you; I am a freelance writer by trade and make next to no money, so I understand what you're going through. Which player...

What DVD Did You Watch Last?

Yes, my big-D'ed friend...I remember the second cut of the film on that second disc of the Extreme set (apparently, it had to be accessed via a PC). I never tried, so I always watch the special extended version. And you are most likely right about the reason why the transfer looks good on my...

What DVD Did You Watch Last?

Here's my take on these: First of all, regardless of this severely unpopular opinion, Rise of the Machines is my favorite of the whole franchise. Don't know what it is -- Ms. Loken looking sexy as hell, the fight sequences, Nick Stahl in the role of John (which I personally loved)...but it's my...

Cool story, Jim -- you bought this Extreme DVD for him? This transfer still holds up to this day -- I swear, as upscaled by my Panasonic UHD BD player, the DVD comes across like a good Blu-ray transfer, even on my 65-inch sized display. I don't see any need to upgrade to the 4K version any time...
