    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

So I'm working my way through the sale titles, as there are quite a few new ones this time around. I had The Day the Earth Caught Fire in my cart, but after doing some research took it back out. Turns out the Kino master is significantly cropped with an aspect ratio of 2.23:1. I learned that...

They are nothing but plastic beads. The beads are fed into an injection molding machine which melts them and injects the plastic into the mold. The molded discs are then coated with a light layer of aluminum and finally a protective resin. There are no “blanks” involved in the process.

I am so jealous that Murder on the Orient Express is coming to 4K disc. Would love if Paramount would do a 4K upgrade to digital platforms, but I’m guessing that it probably won’t be any time soon because they will probably give Kino an exclusivity window.

Received my sale order today. I have two comments. First Master of the World is in STEREO which I believe had never been confirmed by Kino, and people were asking about it. Second, Diamond Wizard is my first 3D purchase since I lost my ability to view 3D Blu-rays, and I was curious to see...

I placed my order on the 10th and it still has not shipped. I think the people who place their orders on the first day of the sale get their shipments fairly quickly, but the ones like me who take a long time to decide, get stuck in the backlog. They will get them all out eventually. Best not...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

I just watched Enter Arsene Lupin, and I think I enjoyed it a great deal more than you did. The characters were delightful and it was so lighthearted and comic, that it's kind of strange to consider it Noir. I noticed that very few Arsene Lupin movies were made in the US during the reign of the...

You use the term “cash cow” way too much! :D

They must put all the orders in a hat, shake them up and pick them out, one by one. :D

We’re any of your titles not it stock? Because Kino doesn‘t do partial shipments.

Funny you should ask, I just got a notice mine shipped today. I placed the order on October 7th. It’s a big one, 15 titles.

You were probably searching Clockmaker as two words. Kino’s search engine is not intuitive when it comes to spelling.

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

I decided to continue the discussion about the possible aspect ratio of To Hell and Back here rather than to risk it by continuing in the announcements thread. I popped in the DVD to see if maybe I could get a clue as to what the intended aspect ratio might actually be. First off, the DVD is of...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

Well, here’s a nice surprise. Received my order today and both Crossed Swords and Pillars of the Sky ARE in stereo. Kudos to Kino on that! It is just so annoying that so many online reviewers can’t tell the difference between stereo and dual mono. Now I kind of wish I had taken a chance on...

I’m just about to place my order in the “June Swoon” sale. I’ve already eliminated two titles from my cart because with further research I found that they suffered from Kino audio downmixing syndrome. Life With Mikey is 2.0 while it’s 5.1 on iTunes, so someday maybe the digital will go on sale...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

I hear you. I'm not exactly going to make a killing on this sale either. There are about 25 KL titles on my wishlist (most of which were released in the last 6 months) and only three of them are on sale: Horizons West, Quantez, Crossed Swords, and Western Classics Vol 2. There may be a few...

You can all speculate to your heart’s content, but I’m still waiting for the Kino sale we were promised would happen in June. I really do need to rack up some more debt!

I was delaying placing my order because I wanted to delay the charge to my credit card as long as possible. I guess maybe I need not have worried about that! :emoji_astonished:

Unfortunately Kino has a poor track record on this issue. Luckily those are three titles I’m not interested in. However two other titles I did buy were also erroneously mono: The Falcon and the Snowman and Taras Bulba .

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

Well here’s a nice surprise. I just got They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? from an Amazon Black Friday lightning deal and this Blu-ray has the film’s soundtrack in stereo! I believe this is the first time the stereo sound has been available on home video. Usually Kino is guilty of the opposite...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

Yes I'm sure a lot of titles that I ordered were in stock at the beginning of the sale. I waited until the last day of the sale to place my order.

I got my shipment from the Kino Lorber Launch sale today. As others have reported, it was only a partial shipment as the website evidently has no way of letting us know what is back ordered. However at least they annotated on the invoice with a highlighter so I would know what's what.

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

Okay, I've received my copy of A Farewell to Arms and can now safely say it is STEREO. While the 3.0 mix from the DVD would have been preferable, we can at least be thankful that it isn't mono. The best way to replicate the 3 channel mix is to set your receiver to turn off the rear channels and...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

Since this is the thread we're allowed to be critical in, there is a review up for A Farewell to Arms and once again a 3.0 channel mix (as was on the DVD) has been downmixed to 2.0. The reviewer fails to tell us whether it is 2.0 mono or 2.0 stereo. I've got my fingers crossed that it is stereo...

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

A big score for Kino Lorber to get A Child is Waiting. I've been hoping for that one on Blu-ray for years. Someday I hope to own all of Garland's work on Blu-ray.

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

That is awsome to hear that comparison video. That is absolutely a genuine stereo track. I've been quite disappointed in how many Blu-rays are getting released that are dropping the stereo tracks. Luckily there aren't too many like this which was originally released in stereo. Most cases are...
