I think a SNW theatrical film would have a WTF reaction from a lot of non-trekkies. They had 3 movies with a new Kirk & Crew, now they get a new cast, a Captain named Pike, etc.
I could deal with New Khan, barely. I couldn't deal with spaceship flying inside stupid transparent tubes into stupid magical space station with stupid technology thousands of years beyond original ST.
