    Oppenheimer (2023)

Well if you split the difference and assume 45,000 per print, that’s 1.35M to replace all existing 30 prints (I know shipping would add more but sake of argument). If they could squeeze a few more million out of extended IMAX showings. It wouldn’t be a bad investment

    Oppenheimer (2023)

I’m not counting on it but maybe there could be a chance of it since it’s a new studio (as far as Nolan films go) and since there was so much hype for this version of the film and only such a relative few are able to see it this way…….like I said I don’t think it’s likely, but would be nice to...

    Oppenheimer (2023)

Probably. Would be nice though if they made the release a 2 disc version with the “standard” 2.20/1.78 presentation and another disc with the full IMAX version

    Oppenheimer (2023)

will certainly rack up nominations in the major categories and Nolan is certainly due for Director statue. But I can already see this upcoming Oscars being the “Barbenheimer” Oscars. Guess we’ll have to see what other contenders come this fall

    Oppenheimer (2023)

The standard 70mm showing I went to only had 2 trailers. I was actually surprised by this since historically Nolan IMAX usually didn’t have trailers on the 15/70 showings. Thought the standard 70mm might have also followed this

    Oppenheimer (2023)

i was anticipating some kind of “Mr. DNA“ type sequence that gave some exposition on how the bomb worked. Though for that you need a character that is a stand in for the audience (maybe Oppy could have explained it to Groves). Obviously Nolan found that unnecessary (there are plenty of videos on...

Then maybe I am l, but I ask what element didn’t live up to your expectations?

    Oppenheimer (2023)

I guess the question I have is still a what did you expect? If Nolan could actually time travel and film the actual test with modern cameras, would you think it would have been better?

    Oppenheimer (2023)

I do admit that I was surprised that there was essentially 0 exposition about how the bomb actually worked. Plenty of YouTube videos in the last week on my feed that did go into the science of it. Maybe Nolan thought it would be cliche to show a visual of the neutrons splitting the uranium atoms...

    Oppenheimer (2023)

It’s rare, but I’m in complete agreement with Robert here. This wasn’t a war movie and if you were expecting the movie to “improve” the actually Trinity test you were bound for disappointment. It was an explosion, a big one, but only the dawn of what is now capable

    Oppenheimer (2023)

Crazy. Decided to go with the standard 70mm at the New Roc Regal (which was filling up at the 10:40am showing in the hours since I first checked and when I booked, good thing I prefer aisle seats) Damn the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium for destroying their IMAX projection theater

    Oppenheimer (2023)

Yeah I figured as such. I know it’s typical for Nolan movies when they come out on home video, for the IMAX stuff they use a compromise 1.78:1 AR. I really hope for Oppenheimer we get offered the option for the full 1.44:1, but again that would go against the typical strategy

    Oppenheimer (2023)

So my two practical options are non 70mm IMAX or just regular 70mm. What would be the recommended choice here (I suppose if I really wanted to I could make the trip to Manhattan but it looks like it’s pretty sold old)

    Oppenheimer (2023)

Saw Dunkirk 15/70 at the Norwalk Maritime aquarium, sadly they tore down their IMAX theater so that’s one less print needed as well. Hoping the Regal in New Rochelle will show it in 15/70
