Green Acres did TWO backdoor pilots at the end of the series, the only two episodes of the series not directed by Richard L. Bare (other than the pilot which was more of a clip show).

It was mentioned in a book ("Star Trek Lives!"?)that there were 26 episodes planned for the third season (William Shatner was set to direct one of the last two) and DURING the filming of Turnabout Intruder it was announced that the final two were dropped by NBC because of ratings. I'm sure...

Probably not. When I made that post, I looked up all the NCIS series on epguides and they added to 999. Generally an episode of a series is a part of that series regardless of what characters appear on it. For example the Hawaii Five-0 (2010) episodes various NCIS characters appeared on weren't...

Wilmer Valderrama of NCIS was recently on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert touting the 1000th episode of NCIS. What the audience wasn't told was that total included all 4 American NCIS series, not just the parent series. Which led me to wonder what the 1000th episode of Star Trek was. So I...

I still have a copy of that VHS release. The changed song ruined the episode.

Years ago I took VHS releases of The Cage (all-color version) and The Menagerie, transferred it to my computer and edited it all together to make a 1:45:45 presentation. I removed all Part 1, Part 2 and 'to be concluded' notices. I replaced the episode titles with generic Enterprise flybys and...

Yes, the change in the theme music was on the original uncut syndicated-on-film episodes which included all the original opening and closing credits and even the bumpers ("Leonard Nimoy speaking. Tonight's exciting Star Trek continues in a moment.") (The word exciting was soon edited out, or the...

Another door oddity in Star Trek was in "Journey to Babel" when Amanda slaps Spock and leaves the room. Spock walks up to the door and even places his hand on the door but it doesn't open. Was Amanda so mad at Spock that she locked him in when she left?

I have that same copy of that book bought in 1975. I don't remember all the details but I believe I bought in from David Gerrold himself (it's autographed) perhaps through an ad in Starlog Magazine. I also bought his book "The Man Who Folded Himself" (autographed with "Best Wishes").

There's just one fact that discounts your theory. In the episode planned for the premiere of Mission: Impossible (and ultimately shown as the premiere) originally had Mission: Impossible music played during the Desilu logo. This may have been the only version available at the time the premieres...

In the very early days of syndication, "The Man Trap" was shown in the proper order as episode five not as the first episode. Wasn't even supposed to be first aired ("Charlie X" was until NBC stuck their nose in and added a "preview" episode).

Since music for a TV episode is scored/recorded in the planned aired order so the episodes would be ready for broadcast and that apparently the new Desilu logo hadn't had music associated with it yet, a temporary piece of music from the Mission: Impossible series would be used. And what two...

The original NBC broadcasts and original syndication broadcasts had many differences with reruns starting in the 1980s, and releases on VHS and DVD and through the 2000s with the remastered special effects. The M:I music was on the Desilu logo only in the original broadcasts.

So why did "Charlie X" originally have the M:I music over the Desilu logo like the PREMIERE of Mission: Impossible?

"Charlie X" was supposed to be the premiere episode (original NBC week ads gave a Sept. 15 date for Star Trek's premiere, and, like Mission: Impossible's premiere, had the M:I music behind the Desilu logo. Then someone at NBC had the "bright" (sarcasm) idea of airing a "preview" on Sept. 8 and...
