What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

Darren McGavin's easy, breezy, two-fisted Mike Hammer is one of my all-time favorite detectives. I converted all of the episodes to MKV files, stored on a memory device connected to my Smart TV. I found that six of the episodes had damaged IFO files, making it difficult to convert to MKVs. I...

Honestly, you're making me wish that I had asked Santa for a T.J. Hooker set. "You go ahead and go home, officer Romano. I'll see to it that Stacy takes a shower after her workout."

Converted my 2003 A&E Secret Agent/Danger Man set to MKV files. Had a problem with a damaged IFO file for "Not So Jolly Roger" but managed to work around it. Nice to watch this excellent series again.

I believe that Madman acquired the six Four-In-One McCloud episodes from tape backups from a British TV station. Details in this entry from the Classic TV History Blog: https://classictvhistory.wordpress.com/2012/02/25/procrustes-comes-to-syndication/

Thanks, Scott, for expanding my vocabulary once again. Japery - buffoonery, clowning, frivolity, harlequinade, prank, shtick.

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

Your post prompted me to revisit Harry O. While I love Janssen's world-weary performance, I had forgotten that the dvds have no subtitles whatsoever, not even closed captioning. This is a real drawback, as some of my family members are hard of hearing. I wish that there were a website where...

Russ, you've omitted the most important part of a Buck Rogers review - a completely gratuitous series of Erin Gray pics! Are you feeling all right?

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I had always thought that Buck Rogers was the ultimate cheese fest, with episodes like "Planet of the Slave Girls", "Vegas in Space", "Planet of the Amazon Women". But now, I guess I'll have to go back and carefully check each episode of Matt Houston for evidence of female pulchritude. Dammit...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

The monster-of-the-week episodes of VTTBOTS were often heavily padded. The monster shuffles down the hallway to the Right. The monster shuffles down the hallway to the Left. The crew runs down the hallway to the Left.... Finally, in the last five minutes of the show, Nelson says, "Hey, let's...

Love that Rockford episode ("Nice Guys Finish Dead"). If you pay attention, you'll notice that there are more and more pieces of adhesive tape holding James Whitmore Jr's glasses together as his character gets beaten up throughout the episode.

In addition to the RLJ complete set, I also have the three 3-disc sets released by Image in 2005-06 because they contain original bumpers and commercials.

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

Star Trek Deep Space Nine season 3 I always get a chuckle whenever they lose a runabout. The unfortunate runabouts are like the Liberty ships of WWII. They just keep getting blown up, burned, crashed, destroyed, week after week. Star Fleet Command must have to crank them out on an assembly...
