There was wildly excessive "grain" on the CAV laserdisc, and of course it wasn't a compression artifact. It was plain old noise, present on the analog master and reproduced faithfully. Aliens has had issues that go beyond the graininess of the original stocks, going back for decades now.

I'm crossing my fingers that my DMC order will actually ship. It's listed as "Processing." And yes, it should, and in theory Disney would prioritize their own store for inventory, even if it's going away, but it's the wild west at that company right now.
