I hadn't watched it in years, but I played Goonies last night and sure enough it froze up around the 42 minute mark. Disc is clean and immaculate. Date is 2007. Oh well, I'd been meaning to replace with bluray or 4K.

I was in the mood for some Gable and watched Command Decision today. Unfortunately it locked up about an hour in. Disc is in perfect shape, no scratches or smudges.

I ended up contacting Sherri and she's sending me out a new copy, but it's MOD. I've never had an issue with any of the MOD releases so i'm not worried about it, I'm just glad to get a new copy of this fine film.

I just rebought the offending titles. They were luckily still in print or easy to obtain. So far the replacement copies are good to go.

Yeah, I must have lucked out (at least for the time being). My copy is a single, not part of the boxed set.

I have a feeling some of my discs failed due to ultra high humidity. I had placed a lot of my DVD's in a plastic crate out in my back storage building which isn't climate controlled. Only the WB discs were affected though so maybe it just accelerated the process of them not working it. I ordered...

I had the same bad feeling when I opened up Julius Caesar. It's been some years since I viewed it and the whole reflective side of the disc had blotches all over. It worked fine and no hang ups though. Curiously, Air Force and Dark Passage look mint and froze up.
