Saw this Jane Austen adaptation the other day. If you like period pieces, I can guarantee you will love this one. Kate Beckinsale deserves Oscar consideration for her portrayal of a British Lady long on looks and manners and connections but very short on money, and the maneuvers she undertakes to find wealthy husbands for herself and her daughter. Her deft, witty delivery of the excellent dialogue carries the film but everyone else is in very good form as well.
Funny, incisive but sans any real meanness or cruelty. Pretty people and scenery. And before it can get dull it ends in a thrifty 1:27 minutes.
90/100 ... Highly recommended.
