Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some!! is one of those films that takes you back a decade or two, or three, to places that many of us visited, and makes you feel perfectly at home in the atmosphere.
It's also one of those films in which players, here purportedly 18-22, or thereabouts, are generally a bit older, possibly with the exception of two leads, Blake Jenner and Zoey Deutch.
Produced on a smallish budget, and with Rick Linklater at the helm, one should have a pretty good idea what they're going to get going in.
A quality, thoughtful story, with top-notch characters, and dialogue that could have come out of the real world.
The quote which adorns the jacket art courtesy of Rolling Stones' Peter Travers, pigeon-holes the film perfectly, as "Dazed and Confused meet the '80s."
This is one of those productions, released on Blu-ray, which cries out "Buy me!," as once you enter it's world, it's difficult to leave.
Shot with an Arri Alexa, and taken through to a post for distribution via DCP, you know the Blu-ray should be a perfect down-rez of the data files, and it is.
If there's anyone still out there that has not yet seen Linklater's previous film, Boyhood...
You should be ashamed of yourselves.
