According to TMZ, Jerry Doyle (best known as Michael Garibaldi on Babylon 5) was found dead in his Las Vegas home, although it appears to be from natural causes. An autopsy is still pending:

This sucks. The "Babylon 5 Curse" continues. Not to jinx things, but who's next? Boxleitner? Furlan?

Series creator J. Michael Straczynski just wrote a moving tribute to Jerry:

Sad. Like JMS, I'm polar opposite from Doyle in politics, but I always enjoyed him on B5. He was terrific on that show.

He was part of the reason B5 was great. Sucks that so many of the actors from that show died young.

This pretty much sums up my reaction to this news earlier today:

What a coincidence - just a couple of hours ago I was on Vudu and saw that each season of Babylon 5 was being sold for 19.99; I'm seriously considering it as I've missed the show.

RIP Mr. Doyle!

I've been working my way through the series again (just finished S3).

Very sad news.

Man, this is really sad. I LOVED B5. And one of the main reasons was Mr. Garibaldi and his interactions with Londo.

I guess it is time to dust off my DVD sets. (I just wish the image quality was bettter.)

R.I.P. Jerry Doyle. :(

I don't think they have a cause of death yet. Quite a shock reading this yesterday.

Speculation now is that injuries suffered when Doyle was mugged in Germany last year might have caused his death (a possible aneurysm). My step-grandfather was mugged in New Orleans back in the mid-'80s, severely hit on the head, and suffered significant neurological trauma for the rest of his life.

What's the B5 death-count up to, now? We've presently lost:

Michael O'Hare
Jerry Doyle
Richard Biggs
Andreas Katsulas
Jeff Conaway
Tim Choate (Zathras)
Robin Sachs (N'Kal, other characters)

Valen help us, who's next?

I think I missed that he was mugged last year. Sorry about your step-grandfather too. Too many criminals in this world.
