VIZIO Unveils ‘Best Picture Ever’ P-Series 4K HDR TV

Among several announcements this week from Irvine-based VIZIO, Inc. is the news that the company is releasing the ‘top-of-the-line’ P-Series TV with Quuantum Dot Technology. The flagship 65″ 4K HDR Smart TV includes Active Full Array Max Backlighting, 192 local dimming zones and up to 2,000 Nits of peak brightness.

Featuring a bezel-less design for a ‘highly immersive experience’, and boasting VIZIO’s combination of picture quality technologies, the P-Series Quantum is claimed to be the ‘ideal home theater solution’ for discerning videophiles. Dolby Visionâ„¢ HDR is enhanced with Active Full Array Max backlighting that boasts 192 zones of local dimming for superb contrast and deep black levels, while up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness delivers unmatched highlights.

Quantum Color Spectrumâ„¢ elevates the viewing experience by producing a palate of over one billion colors. The P-Series Quantum also features VIZIO’s 2018 SmartCast OS for streaming and smart home functionalities. The 2018 P-Series Quantum 65″ Class 4K HDR Smart TV (PQ65-F1) is now available on VIZIO.com with an MSRP of $2,199.99 and will be available soon at retailers such as Amazon, Costco and Sam’s Club.

With this combination of ‘vibrant color, crystalline clarity and spectacular contrast’, according to VIZiO, the 65″ P-Series Quantum exists to ‘elevate the home-theater experience.’ As VIZIO’s brightest TV yet, the P-Series Quantum features UltraBright 2000 which delivers ‘unmatched’ luminance, taking the Dolby Vision HDR it provides, to the next level. Projecting up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, UltraBright 2000 allows P-Series Quantum viewers to experience dramatic highlights. VIZIO’s Active Full Array Max backlight combines a full array backlight with 192 local dimming zones to adjust precisely on-screen content. These simultaneous adjustments ‘add brilliance’ to bright elements in a scene while also producing VIZIO’s purest black levels. Equipped with VIZIO’s advanced Quantum Color Spectrum technology, the P-Series utilizes more than a billion colors to match hue and tones with cinematic color closer to what the human eye sees. Clear Actionâ„¢ 960 stabilizes imagery and reduces motion blur, allowing viewers to enjoy action scenes with image processing capabilities, and a 240Hz effective refresh rate for a smoother, more natural picture.

From everyday users to cord-cutters and smart home enthusiasts, the 2018 SmartCast OS ensures VIZIO users are met with a versatile smart TV experience. Apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Vudu, iHeartRadio, Crackle and Xumo can be accessed on the TV screen using the included remote. Users can also download the free SmartCast Mobileâ„¢ app to turn their smartphone into a touchscreen remote. To round out the streaming app experience, the SmartCast OS features Google Chromecast built-in which allows users to access Chromecast-enabled apps for a free, subscription and paid content.

The VIZIO 2018 SmartCast OS also serves as a smart home companion. Voice-control is supported for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. By utilizing speaking commands, users can turn their TVs on and off, change channels or adjust volume – and for Google Assistant users, stream content to the TV. The P-Series Quantum features a bezel-less design, and silver styling around the perimeter is complemented by minimalist polished aluminum legs.

I love my OLED but for those unwilling to pay the OLED price the Visio P series is outstanding. I have a P-50 from 2 years ago and heartily recommend it. Dolby Vision looks stunning on it. Yes the OLED has even better blacks. You can't go wrong with the P series.

So, $1,299 for the 65", and $2,500 for the 75" P-series
Heck of a deal, but is the lone 65" Quantum display for $2,200 worth the extra money over the other new models?
