2018 CES Promises to Break Attendance Records

If you’re planning to blag your way into 2018’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January – or even better, if you’re already in the tech industry – be prepared for increased floor space and attendance, and plenty of exciting emerging categories gaining momentum on the show floor.

The annual electronic toys extravaganza will run from Tuesday, January 9th through Friday, January 12th, 2018, and as you’d expect, all AV, home theater and audio segments will be well-represented.

President and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), and chief suit presiding over CES, claims that this year’s event will be ‘record-breaking’, with the show boasting more than 4,000 exhibitors across 2.6m square feet of exhibit space. Not only does the vast expo consume the entire floor space of the Las Vegas Convention Center, it also inhabits The Venetian and Sands Expo halls, as well as countless off-site demo and meeting spaces located at casinos such as Aria and Monte Carlo.

Both the augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) sections of the show have significantly increased their footprint on the floor, even though there will actually be less VR exhibitors compared to last year. Drones and robotics will feature with more exhibitors in attendance, up 15% and 30% respectively.

Shapiro says, “Well, I don’t want to sound repetitive from prior years, but the truth is CES will be a record setter. It’s clearly become a global stage for innovation. ”

No doubt we’ll have plenty to cover here on HTF after news emerges of what drew the crowds at the Tech East hall, and other AV locations. If you’re planning to go, please let us know in the thread below.

I wonder if the Creative X-Fi Sonic Carrier is known among people who are interested in home theater products.

I don't see much discussions and posts on the internet about the Creative X-Fi Sonic Carrier.

The show gets bigger each year. I can gripe and say it just means longer lines at the rest rooms and food vendors but it's still lots of fun to attend. I'll be there again in 2018 and I'm pre-planning booth visits and suite appointments. I'll be at the Creative demo on the 11th at the Venetian. Planned social events include the Digital Entertainment Group reception and several cocktail parties.
