A few words about…™ Justice League — in 4k UHD Blu-ray

4 Stars A high quality 4k disc, of a nice, fun film.

I was forewarned that Justice League was a horrific experience, and that possibly if Zack Snyder’s original cut were available…

While that may have lowered my expectations, and affected my final take on the film, I came away finding it decidedly okay. Not really fun. Not a great film by any means. But not what I was expecting.

Continuity seems a bit muddled, but things seem to work themselves out.

Yes, Henry Cavill’s upper lip did occasionally appear a bit odd, but not nearly as bad as I expected. I still can’t understand why no one is able to find an American actor to fill Superman’s shoes. Possibly someone is less demand.

In the end, I found it to be a bit confusing, possibly at least in part, for my own loss of continuity in the series. I keep wondering when Iron Man might appear.

The film was finished as a 2k DI, but Warner’s 4k disc shines. They seem to be doing something right. And by that I reference the earlier inability to easily view HDR discs in projection.

Gal Gadot is fun, although she still might benefit from some acting lessons. She’s still new at it, and presumably, she has great years ahead, as she gains experience.

Audio is superb, especially with Dolby Atmos ringing all the bells, and filling the proscenium.

A high quality 4k disc, of a nice, fun film.

Thanks for the review. I read it just to see what RAH had to say about it.

Unhappily for me, the CGI-based action hero movie seems to be the gold standard of studio production today. I cannot describe how much I miss the large-scale movies of the past with real characters, actual screenplays, monumental musical scores, and most of all, ideas. Great images and sound as well of course.

I find myself either revisiting the films of the past or visiting the art houses to see some real things.

Thanks for your review, it gives me some hope.

DC is a failure at DC Universe multi character films. For that matter, Marvel isn't much better.

I MUCH prefer my superheroes doled out as one superhero per film.

"Not really fun."

"A nice fun film."

;)

Probably should added fun “for ten year-olds.”

As was mentioned above, the CGI aspects can be. a bit off-putting, but I never cared for the flying monkeys in Oz. This is more of the same, but with an insectoid touch.

And no wires.

Of course, we have the speedy Woody Allen character, who needed a therapist.

"JL" wasn't a great movie but I thought it entertained. It moved at a good pace, gave us some solid action scenes and did what it needed to do...

I was disappointed by it on almost every level but still kinda liked it. I’ll be buying it in 4K and 3D.

So glad to see someone bring this up. I liken Ms. Gadot to an 80's Arnold Schwarzenegger. Looks fabulous while posing and in pictures, she should being a model, but English dialogue is not her strong suit. Physically she delivers the goods. I'm glad fans and non-fans alike are excited about Wonder Woman, but I don't see any strong acting content being delivered by this incarnation.

So go to that thread - why visit this one and crap in it? No one forced you to open/read it...

Is there a thread for it?...I have been teasing Richard for a while to do a review of Kwai on 4K as he has probably been too busy to do so- no need to be so vulgar and crass

Who's Richard? As to the Justice League let's stay on topic and address other titles in the appropriate threads. Also, I use the word "crap" when I'm trying not to be vulgar and crass.:) I guess that's the American in me.;)

I thought it was okay. I have a lot of movies to catch up on for my home theater so I will see this one in maybe May on my equipment. I am still trying to figure out 7.1 on my Yamaha a750 but I might have to retire my blue ray. It is almost 8 years old. But Justice League is one of the few I thought the battle scene was better than the X-men
