AudioControl introduces Avalon G4 power amplifier

AudioControl has introduced a new power amplifier, the Avalon G4, a fully configurable 4, 3 or 2-channel amplifier suited for residential AV applications. The amp is housed in a 2U rack space enclosure and is capable of operating as a 4-channel, 3-channel or 2-channel amplifier configurable via rear panel controls.

AudioControl claims the Avalon G4 delivers “exceptional detail and clarity” courtesy of an efficient Class H design that can achieve 230 watts/8-ohms or 300 watts/4-ohms into four channels with all channels driven. The Class H design topology not only promises to deliver superb audio quality and enhanced reliability, but also reduces heat dissipation from its compact form factor. The unit features AudioControl’s LightDrive anti-clipping circuit, which protects loudspeakers from clipping and distortion in extreme conditions such as those within a highly dynamic action movie soundtrack. Each pair of channels features hi/lo/bypass crossover controls, balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs as well as RCA throughputs to achieve different configuration options. The Avalon G4 has independent channel level controls, remote power control triggers, audiophile-grade 5-way binding posts and can be ordered for either 110 or 220-volt operation.

The amp is made in the USA and has been designed to match AudioControl’s Maestro M9 and M5 cinema processors, while suiting immersive surround formats such as Dolby Atmos or as a premium standalone power amplifier for multi-zone setups. The G4 can be configured as a 2-channel amplifier (600 watts into 8 ohm loudspeakers) or as a 2.1 solution. You can find out more on the company website here.
