Bryston introduces BDA-3.14 streaming DAC

Bryston has introduced a new BDA-3.14 multi-function DAC, which includes a built-in music player, onboard digital volume control and updated user interface, creating “a world class digital entertainment hub.” Bryston says the new DAC adds an array of “impressive” features to theĀ  BDA-3 DAC platform. The BDA-3.14 puts emphasis on both performance and build quality, and will be available from Bryston dealers during the fourth quarter of this year at an MSRP of $4195 USD.

The BDA-3.14 offers streaming via a built-in music player that offers access to network-connected storage and USB drives, as well as streaming services such as Qobuz, Tidal, Roon and Internet radio. Digital connectivity between the internal music player and the DAC is managed using the I2S protocol, the interface standard for connecting digital audio devices together and which preserves audio and clock data with a claimed “virtually zero” error. The BDA-3.14 features a digital volume control to drive an amplifier directly, and an updated version of Brystonā€™s Manic Moose user interface for phones, tablets and computers for more intuitive control.

Bryston’s existing BDA-3 DAC technology can decode up to 384 kHz/32-bit PCM music and up to DSDx4 natively. Each format is processed in native resolution, preserving “bit-perfect” signals to analog outputs. Brystonā€™s re-clocking circuit reduces jitter to nearly “unmeasurable” levels, and a proprietary analog section is free of integrated circuits (ICs) that can limit bandwidth and dynamic range in competing DACs. The unit also has ten discrete inputs including four 2-channel HDMIs, asynchronous USB, AES/EBU, TOSLINK, and digital coax. Brystonā€™s network module is included, and facilitates control via TCP/IP and RS-232 for integration with smart home platforms.

ā€œBryston is excited to be able to deliver the exceptionally high performance of our digital music player and our DAC merged into a single chassis solution,ā€ stated Gary Dayton, VP of Sales & Marketing at Bryston. ā€œNow music enthusiasts can enjoy a sleek, easy-to-use ultimate performance streamer/DAC combo as centerpiece of their digital entertainment system.ā€
