This like the best film news of all time for me.
Seeing The Searchers at a film festival many years ago in a UA 150 Cinema Dome did 2 things for me.
It made me a life long fan of The Duke & John Ford plus blew my mind starring a ton of other actors I'd seen in B&W TV Westerns growing up.
Along...
"For those unaware or initiated, a MacGuffin is a device used for hunting lions in the Scottish highlands."
I didn't know there were lions in Scotland ;)
Wow what an insulting post by a know-nothing.
So you've watch something on 10,500 inch screen so now you're an expert in film transferring and color timing etc and can watch a 10 minute YouTube video and prove that it's all a scam by bleary-eyed tea drinking incompetents.
Got it.
Must be nice to...
IMO, LOTR reminds me of a couple other films that were not done justice until a 4k release.
Lawrence of Arabia & 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Certainly there are others. A couple that come to mind are Gone With the Wind, Ben-Hur & laugh if you want Oklahoma!
I have the Todd-AO of Oklahoma and find it...
HDR a crapshoot? Huh? As Robert said, home projectors with 1 exception, are not bright enough to do HDR justice.
OLEDs especially LG & Sony are.
Where's the crapshoot?
Gawd, is it still the year 2000 in here?
Those bastard studios are at it again, trying to make a profit & not giving you exactly what you so deserve.
It's like Hudson in Aliens, some people aren't keeping up current events.
Physical media is a money loser, repeat money loser.
I'm not saying...
Question or 2.
Whatever you order from a non-native Amazon site is dependent on them, not Amazon.com.
There are a ton of factors external to any Amazon site.
I pre-ordered Police Squad BD from Amazon.com. The original ship & release date was 4/14.
Got updated ship date a bit ago and it was 4/16...
Nothing whatsoever to do with differing opinions.
Just curious as Wenders is a unique film maker, love him or loathe him.
It's Robert's prerogative to reply or not.
I always enjoy reading & re-reading his POV, regardless.
I'm fine either way
Wondering why Robert hasn't posted regarding Wim Wenders' about Until the End of the World Criterion release?
True shame that there wasn't a UHD release given the extensive work done.
I'll be ordering it as I generally like Wenders' films.
Love that he shoots in story order. Unique.
No...
So sometime in 2020 is the latest speculation for Lawrence?
I understand that these things take time & we have no choice but to wait but JHC, WWII was won in a shorter timeframe.
Stated simply, Kirk Douglas was one the greatest film making artists in the history of cinema.
Acting, producing, giving a blacklisted screenwriter a plum opportunity.
Giving an unknown director a job on a film where he starred.
So many things.
They don't make men like Kirk Douglas very often...
