Definitely has it's weaknesses, but I found myself enjoying a surprising amount of it, especially the loopy ending. Going to hold off on picking it up for what I hope will be a five-film set. If one is not out in a year or two... yeah, I'll probably pick it up. Won't be any cheaper though, being...
Despite Jared Leto being in this, I actually found it pretty fun, spooky fluff that I would watch again with pretty decent cast chemistry. Doesn't hurt that Danny DeVito is great, as per usual.
Kinda glad I didn't pull the trigger on the import version now, despite getting tired of Arrow's whole gimmick of releasing four or more different variations of the same movie. Hard for me to be upset when we're finally getting the theatrical cut.
I really enjoyed this one when it came out. Haven't seen it in quite some time, but definitely deserves the better reputation it has over the other sequels.
I hope both cuts are on there as well. I haven't seen the unrated version of Megan, but with the exception of Kingdom of Heaven, I can't think of a director's cut that actually improved a film. Especially a comedy, which this is largely a dark comedy with horror elements.
That's what I thought until I saw the explanation; they were filmed back-to-back in the same location, which does interest me and makes me want to compare them.
Waiting for the 4K since I've already got the original blu releases. I'm sure it'd be asking too much to get a set with The Whole Bloody Affair included.
Even though his cultural fingerprint is fairly one-note (at least it's a whole story instead of a 15-second bit like Ray Jay Johnson or something), I wanted to check it out. Too bad that it sounds like it's a miss, but hopefully I'll still enjoy it.
Unless, of course, you want to wait and get, say, all of the Marvel movies up to that point with matching blasé slipcovers, which will not be followed up on when the next movie is released.
While I found DoD to not be the trainwreck some other folks did, I will be holding off on purchasing it...
The legacy blu ray set is gorgeous and I just can't bring myself to buy these again. Not after already doing so twice on blu. Maybe at some point if the price point gets low enough.
Don't forget Charade.
"They left me there with five in my leg and my stomach. They knew I was alive, but they left me there. I spent ten months in a German prison camp with nothing to stop the pain. They left me there. They deserved to die."
It wouldn't hurt, but it also wouldn't help that much at this point. If it was going to be done (and it should have been), it should have happened years ago. Now the people who still buy DVDs will likely just decide streaming is good enough rather than upgrade to a better format.
As a Twilight Time owner as well, I'm also curious about this. At least the TT release has the isolated score which never seems to transfer to the newer editions that are put out.
I've got the steelbook and the trap release with Afterlife. Seems weird that they'd "reprint" this instead of just putting out a normal release. They'll be flooding eBay immediately trying to scam people into thinking it's an original.
I'd say pretty much every one of my friends knows who Guy Ritchie is. And if they don't by just the name recognition, all I'd have to say is Snatch or Lock Stock. For others it might be Aladdin (unfortunately.) As for this film, it might at least partly be because it's not typically the kind of...
Saw this over the weekend at my local one-screen theater while visiting my parents. Despite the odd premise, everything about this movie just feels so derivative. Like it's what you would get if you asked an AI to write a Pixar movie. I would go so far as to say it's the weakest of their films...
Especially now that Criterion is doing 4K. Given how visually boffo he is, I'm basically holding off on any future Wes Anderson films, because I can't see them not getting the push and the ones I already have are some of the handful of movies I'll make the change for. But it's the reason I never...
I've gotten most of the big Vinegar Syndrome 4K releases, but I had to pass this one. My buddies and I love bad movies and couldn't get past the surprise sexual assault scene. But for those who are fans, I can't imagine anyone better to release it than these guys. I'll bet it's a fantastic...
Big fan of this flick and it’s Nigel Kneale-esque story from Hammer stalwart Jimmy Sangster. It’s one of the MST3K episodes I’ll watch for the movie instead of the riffing.
JoshZ Johnson is RIGHT! (To steal from a different satire.)
I remember this as one of the titles in the Paramount sizzle reel for the blu ray format, but never materializing. Then when the import disc came out, it was just awful. If this isn’t a different transfer, it will be incredibly...
Was CtM shot on film? It’s basically a student film, but it’s worth having if only for the drunken commentary where they both forget to flip the tape over and leave to go to a strip club.
I much prefer the type of release that Star Trek received. Yeah, I watched all of the episodes with the new, digital effects and in some cases they seemed to work better. But I was glad that the "imperfect" versions of all of them with opticals and reused effects from the '60s were right there...
