I'd also noticed the Bird/Teddy connection, and there was some explicit connection made in one of the last episodes. I should have been a little more clea. I didn't have a problem with Bird's character changing, I just didn't liek the way they did it, and how jarring they made it.
I loved the first season but grew bored with the second season. They stopped exploring different doctor patient relationships, they completely changed bird's character without any real explanation, they threw as many characters as possible in to a pit of despair, and they stopped being funny.
I found myself liking both of Beth's parents. I liked Bird well enough even though I didn't think I would after only a couple of episodes. I like Paula. I like Teddy. I really like Russel.
I watched the whole of the first season a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it, mostly for Oliver Platt. I've liked the second season so far well enough. I've been impressed with Sharon Stone and more Teddy is a good thing.
I jsut watched this last night, and wow. I knew Shane would off Lem as soon as he said, "Are you hungry?" but it was still a shock to see. It takes a whole lot for a tv show to affect me and that part certainly did. I found Dutch using the pimp's advice to get to the rookie really entertaining.
I haven't seen this show yet, but everything I read about it compares it to AD. I love AD, and if this show is even half as good I'll be entertained. I can't help feeling a little wary of all the comparisons, though. It sounds like they're trying really hard to say, "look, we're smart!" In my...
Diversity day is still my favorite Office episode of all time. If they're going to pick one to rerun that's a really good choice. "They don't call them collared people."
I agree. I watched the first half of the second episode, found it predictable and pedantic, and I think I'm done. It's really too bad. The casting was done well and the premise had potential, but the writing is so bland that it's not worth watching.
I agree the music pats of it seemed really forced - and I'm pretty sure that *was* John Mayer played over the kid lipsyncing. If not it was an awfully good immitation. I just really liked that Ride the Lightning reference :) I think the show just felt too sterile, and the writing was...
I watched the first half of it. I think it has potential, but the first episode felt really contrived, and was the blatant creation of someone who said, "let's cross Jerry McGuire with High Fidelity." Still, it has potential, and at I loved the reference to Ride the Lightning. Boy has...
ABC is one thing, Showtime another. A hit on Showtime is comepltely different form a hit on FOX. If AD got just half the viewership is currently has on FOX over on Showtime, it'd be considered a hit.
Well, I poste din this thread more than a year ago, it's fun to revisit :) 1. Odyssey 5 - still cancelled and never coming back. Ah well, I really enjoyed it. 2. Family Guy - woo My top three right now would probably be 1. Arrested Development 2. Firefly 3. Odyssey 5
This Showtime news is making me tingle in some very unsavory places. Count me among those that thing this season has been fantastic and the bleeps are best left bleeped. They always go out of their way to some how cover up their lips as well, and I think it's part of the charm.
I've never taken the time to read the comic, but through two episodes this show is absolutely fantastic. The writing, artwork, and voicework is all top notch. The voices don't sound too high to me, but then again since I've never read the comic I didn't already have internal "voices" for...
Wow, I jsut saw this week's episode and thought it was one of the better episodes in the series' entire run. Then I read this. That's really too bad. Initially I thought this seaosn might have lost some of the magic, but they've really done some great things, and I'm eager for more.
The intro totally threw me off, especially the "recap" of important plot points, and it really felt different throughout the episode. The more I read here, though, the more I think I need to just go back and rewatch it. "I think I'll run it through again on pots and pans." Gold.
I also wondered if the dedication (and thus the reference in the show) was for someone real, but the the way they did the "off-camera" characters made me think it was probably just another joke meant to reference the earlier on in the show.
Ah, I grew up on Almost live!, and my brother was actually in an episode (back in his child acting days). I remember when they showed it on Comedya Central, but it wasn't nearly as funny with all the Seattle-specific jokes slashed out. I'm on the other coast these days, so I won't be able...
I'll probably watch this, if only because the outside shot of the bank they show in the promo is down the street from my old apartment. It was jarring to see it when I saw the promo for the first time.
