Universal Shows - List of other shows they own, pre 1990

While not available domestically in Region 1 USA DVD format, The Law and Harry McGraw is on DVD in France, Region 2 format (and yes, does have an English soundtrack in addition to French; only French subtitles, though!). Here is a link to the listing at the Amazon France site: The Law and...

"Law and Order" original series on DVD (1990 - 2010) discussion thread

Okay, so this is more in terms of franchise overall than the original series, but Deadline, Variety, and TV Line are all reporting that Canada is getting in on the franchise, with Law & Order: Toronto Criminal Intent. Per the articles, it is looking at a Spring 2024 launch. It also says...

"The Equalizer", starring Ed Woodward (1985-1989)

As has been pointed out, when watching the original series, it is interesting to see so many now big stars of TV and/or movies who were just starting out, i.e. Frances Fisher, John Goodman, etc. A couple off the top of my head are Michael Moriarty, who would go on to Law & Order as the shows...

DECADES TV Network Rebranding to CATCHY-Comedy TV March 27, 2023.

But the point is, Decades must not have been working, hence the rebrand. So, it seems like a wash either way.

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

Silk Stalkings Complete Series Box Set from VEI. A double dip but worth it to replace the flipper discs from the Anchor Bay 4th and 5th Season DVDs with single-sided discs in the new set.

Pacific Blue (Mill Creek 2012) Complete Series

But in a way, I blame TPTB for that non-resolution of the cliffhanger. By the time the S8 cliffhanger happened, the show was demoted to a summer series versus the usual September to May schedule it had. Add in general age, and new executives coming in, and TPTB had to know the possibility of...

Pacific Blue (Mill Creek 2012) Complete Series

As far as Silk Stalkings' forgotten second team goes, Holly Rawlins [that was the name per TV Guide] and Michael Price had no shot. The characters had no chemistry (IMO!) and the way they were introduced in the midst of what happened to Lorenzo just spelled doom. Tom Ryan and Cassy St. John...

    WISEGUY release from VEI

If someone here does buy the Wiseguy set, would you please let us know if the music is indeed restored? If that is the case, I'll definitely pick this up. But I'd like to know if the info given was correct first. Thanks so much!

Anyone have experience buying TV DVDs/Blu rays from German sites? (looking for Hunter)

Good news for anyone (@Desslar ?) still seeking the Hunter German set. It is being re-released on August 19, 2022 and is up for pre-order at Amazon.de for only 79.99 Euros, translated to about $80.20 in USD. Here is the link to pre-order: (For some reason, an empty box appears; just click on...

The era of TV shows on DVD is coming to an end

While DVD releases for shows in the US does seem to have come to a trickle [comparatively], DVD releases overseas still seem to come to fruition. The latest example I have seen is a DVD release for Law & Order: Organized Crime (Season 1, to be fair...) on the Amazon UK site. Still no domestic...

Anyone have experience buying TV DVDs/Blu rays from German sites? (looking for Hunter)

Quoting a recent post of mine to confirm something. I got the German S1 DVD of Wiseguy. A couple things: The weird phenomenon of German audio interspersed with English is true. On the German audio track, no less. The English track stays steady. Now for the half-disappointing confirmation: The...

Anyone have experience buying TV DVDs/Blu rays from German sites? (looking for Hunter)

Yep, we have been discussing this, @mark27b . Thanks, again. But this set will likely - as Mill Creek did in 2010 - have the generic music, which is why @Desslar was asking about the German set, which kept the original music.

Well, regarding Wiseguy, in the Sonny Steelgrave arc, "Nights In White Satin" has been replaced (with streaming) with crappy generic music, totally ruining the scene...

    TV on DVD news roundup

Actually, popular music was also used through Season 2, with some Foreigner, etc. And, even if not the original artists, covers of popular songs. (One example of such, "Ashes In My Hand" at the end of Rich Girl. Also, in that episode, the song of the same name was used. All stripped, as I said...

The era of TV shows on DVD is coming to an end

To be fair, I hadn't checked the Chicago shows in a while. But I know when I did, there was zip. Makes me wonder if the relatively decent ratings made a decision to get physical DVDs out. However, my post about FBI and L&O: OC sadly holds. Yes, there are DVD listings for the FBI shows on the...

The era of TV shows on DVD is coming to an end

I notice that none of the newer Dick Wolf shows (the FBI franchise, Chicago franchise, Law & Order: Organized Crime) have DVD releases. In stark contrast to the original Mothership years, Criminal Intent, and SVU, as well as one-season failures like L&O: Trial By Jury and L&O: Los Angeles and...

Anyone have experience buying TV DVDs/Blu rays from German sites? (looking for Hunter)

I was thinking the same, until I saw on another board that the English track on the "Dead Dog" arc appears to be absent. That, and I guess, the supposed scene that once used "Hit The Road Jack" reportedly used muzak in Stairway To Heaven, so it would seem, unlike other US shows released in...

Anyone have experience buying TV DVDs/Blu rays from German sites? (looking for Hunter)

No, there were two. The second one is what spurred the revival series. The first movie was The Return of Hunter: Everyone Walks in L.A.. And the second - where McCall made her return (as Stepfanie Kramer was pregnant during the first years before and could not participate!) was Hunter: Return To...

Anyone have experience buying TV DVDs/Blu rays from German sites? (looking for Hunter)

I may have been that user that once posted the Hunter material on YT. For the record, I have a region-free DVD/Blu-Ray player, so in my case, playback is not an issue. But, yes, the discs are Region 2 which means you do need a multi-region/region-free DVD player to play them. For the record, I...

Classic TV show you should be into/couldn’t get into

*whispers* This is me, too. I have the DVDs of the '80s revival, none of the original '60s series. Although I know one of the cast members was the son of one of the actors in the '60s version, which is kind of cool.

    Your Go-To Comfort Food

Sort of ironic since it deals with crime, which is not calming, but either original Law & Order and/or Law & Order: Criminal Intent. I can immerse myself in the fake crimes knowing - at least on CI - the bad guys will get what they deserve, etc.

"Law and Order" original series on DVD (1990 - 2010) discussion thread

Well, I think the failure of Law & Order: Los Angeles has proven that to be true. New York City was a character very much in its own right for the Mothership, Criminal Intent, and SVU. I think Dick Wolf wanted L&O: LA to give the west coast/California the same type of magic, but the "vibe" just...

Stations/Networks who withheld certain episodes from the runs

Perhaps NBC figured officials would not be too bothered since the plot was fiction, and miscalculated. Other than that, I have no idea. Of note, a pre-Mandalorian Pedro Pascal appeared in that episode.

Stations/Networks who withheld certain episodes from the runs

This is a more current show, but Law & Order: Criminal Intent, during its 8th season (around 2008/2009), had an episode called, "The Glory That Was" (a Nichols/Wheeler episode), that had the backdrop of the International Olympics Committee in the midst of the murder. It must have made people...

    Names misspelled in TV credits

Ed O'Neill, from Married With Children and Modern Family fame, guest starred on Hunter in a Season 1 episode (so circa 1984/1985, well before he hit it big with MWC), "The Garbage Man" (in which a just-starting out Frances McDormand would also appear!) and his name was misspelled as Ed O'Niell.

Physical Media might not be dead, but Physical Media in Retail Stores are accelerating the death

I notice on the international Amazon sites that FBI is on DVD in the UK, at least Season 1 is. No listing, however, for Season 2. Unsure if that is because the show may not have aired entirely over there yet of if the show is done on physical media, but S1 is on DVD there, as I said.
