Should I go with a high end sound bar and put my Pioneer VSX-1021-K?

I recently upgraded our Samsung TV and Dish set-top box. While my old Pioneer VSX-1021-Krecv/amp driving a Bose surround sound system, still works fine, the system is a couple decades old. One problem is I'd like to add a keyboard to make text entry easier... such as needed when doing a search...

Logitech Media K400 Plus Keyboard issue

I've discovered that there is a USB port behind the little removeable door on the front panel. Moreover, it does say it can be used to connect a keyboard. Unfortunately, after plugging in the Logitech dongle the keyboard still doesn't work. Any one here who can cast some light on this?

Logitech Media K400 Plus Keyboard issue

I bought a Logitech Media K400 Plus keyboard hoping to make it easier to enter text on my new Samsung 55" TV. I plugged the receiver dongle into the TV USB port and found it to work. That is, moving my fingertip over the keyboard screen moved the cursor over the text matrix on the TV allowing...

    Headset and speakers simultaneously

Reed, I hooked up the AmazonBasics HDMA Extractor today but couldn't make it work. It's probably due the way my system is hooked up. The DVR and Blu-Ray player are connected to the Pioneer Rec/Amp via HDMI, then the HDMI connects to the TV. The instructions say the HDMI "source," e.g., Blu-Ray...

Thanks, Reed. Looks interesting. Might be worth a try.

    Headset and speakers simultaneously

Thanks, Wayne. By setup is based on HDMI to minimize cables. I am very reluctant to change that. Looking at the second option, we watch either things (a) recorded on the Dish set top box, or (b) streamed from sources accessible through the Samsung SmartHub. I would think that in case (a) the...

    Wireless headphones with home theater

Wayne, I'll bet this would also work for my wireless headphones so I could use them while wife hears the speakers. Right?

    Headset and speakers simultaneously

Is it possible to direct the sound from my Pioneer VSX-1021-K receiver amplifier to my Bose AcoustiMass speaker system AND my Sennheiser wireless headset at the same time? My reason for doing this is my hearing is not as it good as it used to be and I do better with voices (movies, news...

    Unreliable stream problem

Thanks, Brian. I have a LinkSys WRT 1900 AC router and a E31T2V1 modem Spectrum gave me. We have no streaming except when we are lucky enough to get an Amazon Prime movie to work through our TV. I'm going to install an Arris modem tomorrow. Will see if I can give the bluray high priority at router.

    Unreliable stream problem

Well, tried the Roku Premier. Worked very poorly o it's going back to BestBuy. Guess I didn't read the specs so didn't know it was WIFi only. I gave up on WiFi in that location years ago because there's just too many strong competing signals. E.g., the neighbor house has a AT&T modem about 10...

    Unreliable stream problem

BTW, I have a CAT5 cable pulled through the attic, total of about 70 feet. I've been told that should be adequate, but if Spectrum is reall pumping 450 Mbps, I sometimes wonder if I should have someone pull CAT6 through. I no longer go into the attic :-(

    Unreliable stream problem

I just took my laptop to the entertainment center and ran speed tests. It's well over 100 Mbps wireless and 350-450 Mbps wired.

    Unreliable stream problem

OK, I'll go get a Roku. I have the same problem when I try to stream with the TV, but it's several years old and might have equally poor firmware updating.

    Unreliable stream problem

Thanks, John. Yes, I use Ookla SpeedTest. I always shows 420-450 Mbps download, 20 upload. However, I do sometimes have "connectivity" issues that rebooting the cable modem fixes. consequently, I reboot the modem before trying to use Amazon. I have noticed that if I fiddle around with it in...

    Unreliable stream problem

I'm finding it very difficult to impossible to watch an Amazon Prime movie. Takes forever to get going, to the point that I just give up. My Spectrum cable service shows 450 Mbps download, but when my Sony Blueray does the initializing connection speed test it shows 12.5 Mpbs. Is that the best...

Sirius XM with Pioneer VSX 2021 k

I'm thinking about subscribing to SiriusXM for our new car, and I've heard that would also entitle me to use SiriusXM at home. My VSX 2021 k users guide says I need a SiriusConnect Home which connects to back panel. However, the SiriusXM website says it's "not in stock," which I assumes it's no...

    Phase errors Acousticmass 10

Thanks for the quick response, Gene. No, I haven't. However, the sound engineer of an opera house said I should. I'm beginning to get the message! Ed

    Phase errors Acousticmass 10

Recently upgraded recvr/amp to Pioneer Elite 1021 which has an automatic speaker balance feature that my 90s era Sony never had. It tells me 3 of my 5 speakers are out of phase. I've checked the wiring and find none reversed. I installed my Bose Acoustimass 10 10-12 years ago by routing the...

    Streaming box vs. integrated

My Roku box seems to have bitten the dust... no status light, no signal. So the question is whether to get a new Roku or use the opportunity to upgrade some other component and get one with streaming. Netflix movies is the main target. I know Blue-ray players often have streaming, and I'm...
