Well, I stand corrected. I believe you if you say it's Greta Garbo, but I think she looks more like actress Evelyn Keyes when I enlarge the photo with my fingers. And I've certainly never seen Garbo wear a costume like that!
I just enlarged the photo of the lobby. Are you sure that's Garbo on the poster second from the right?? It doesn't look like her. It's a beautiful theater, though.
Ron -- Boy, that brings back memories for me, too, as I had quite a collection of Castle and Blackhawk films on 8mm as a child and teenager. I was very much into the Universal horror films back then and Castle films had the license for those, along with films from Paramount. I hosted movie...
Is there any chance that Kino-Lorber might release the two W.C. Fields films "Million Dollar Legs" (1932) and "International House" (1933), possibly with audio commentaries?
YYou're probably
You're probably right, Tim, that both "Miracle" and "Hail" are still owned by Paramount as they released them years ago on DVD. Fortunately, I still have the DVDs, but it sure would be nice to have them on Blu-ray with commentary tracks. Maybe Kino can make a deal with...
Would Kino have the rights to the hilarious 1943 Preston Sturges comedy "The Miracle of Morgan's Creek"? It was originally released by Paramount, but may now be owned by Universal.
Thanks for the tip, Malcolm! I guess I'll have to wait a while until Netflix releases it on physical media, if ever. I saw the film twice - - once in the theater and once on Netflix -- and it was outstanding.
Will Bradley Cooper's "Maestro" ever be released on Blu-ray and 4K UHD? I've yet to see an announcement about this. Since it was produced by Netflix, I'm wondering if it will ever make it to physical media. Does anyone have a clue? Thanks!
Really interesting period film starring John Carradine in one of his best roles and creative direction from Edgar G Ulmer on a small budget, which was his specialty. I'm really looking forward to this Blu-ray, especially with the audio commentary. Thanks, Kino Lorber!
I'm with you all the way on "Maestro", Martin! I saw it twice - - once in the theater and once on Netflix, and I'm ready to see it again. Bradley Cooper's performance was just as impressive as his directorial duties and Carey Mulligan was devastating. I just wonder when it's going to be coming...
According to the information on the Amazon website for the upcoming Blu-ray, this new release has an audio commentary by film historian and Billy Wilder biographer Joseph McBride. It's one of the best courtroom dramas of all time, with a delightfully showy performance by Charles Laughton.
Thanks for the suggestion, Bob! Yes, I would be able to shop at Amazon and support the HTF site using the method you suggest. I just hope that eventually the pre-order links for Amazon will reappear on my phone and desktop before too long.
Thanks so much for the explanation, Andrew! The problem sounds complicated, but I hope HTF and Amazon can work it out in the first quarter of 2024. I'll be looking forward to using the Amazon links again so I can support the HTF site. And thanks for editing the title of the thread, as that more...
Thanks for your suggestion John! I've contacted both Ronald and Jonathan to see if they might be able to help with this. As you can see from the previous post, another HTF member has experienced the same problem in the last few days with having the Amazon ads blocked.
Mark -- that's exactly the same thing that happened to me. It's cropped up in the last day or so and I haven't changed any settings on my phone or desktop computer. I wonder if it's a problem with the HTF website since you're having the same issue?
John -- I'm using Chrome browser on my phone and Edge browser on my desktop computer. At first, I thought it was something wrong with the phone, so I went into the settings on the homepage for HTF and allowed pop-ups and intrusive ads to see if that would correct the problem. It didn't. The...
For some reason, both my computer and android phone have started blocking ads on Home Theater Forum. I've tried un-blocking, but without success. I need to see the ads to use the Amazon link to support the website. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks for your fine review! I recently purchased and watched the Kino Blu-ray of FORCE OF EVIL. It certainly is one of John Garfield's best lead performances and the rest of the cast is compelling as well. It's an exceptional film noir. It took me two viewings, though, to really appreciate...
Oh my gosh! I've been on a Edgar G. Ulmer kick lately and just watched a ragged public domain DVD of BLUEBEARD this past week. The movie is very good and, as usual, Ulmer is very creative within a limited budget, with John Carradine giving what is likely his best performance. But, not...
I was just at my local Barnes & Noble store and the clerk at the front desk confirmed that the Criterion 50% Off sale will begin tomorrow, November 6th. Get your wish list ready!
