I have that film on a good U.K. disc from Indicator. Sidney Lumet and Freddie Young chose a drab, deglamorised look which I'm not sure I want to see in 4K.
I recall seeing a European film starring Peter Lawford in the late 1960s. It was called Dead Run and was released by United Artists, now part of MGM. Perhaps Kino might release this film on disc. I'd certainly like to see it again.
An obscure and mostly forgotten film I'd like to have on disc is On Friday At Eleven (AKA World In My Pocket) Rod Steiger is the main star and the rest of the cast is European semi-names. Going from distant memory it's a good heist movie with a lot of heat and passion between members of the...
I've just seen on Ebay a publicity photo for The Last Time I Saw Archie, a film that seems to have been forgotten. It stars Robert Mitchum, a particular favorite of mine, and Martha Hyer whom I also like. Jack Webb co-stars and directed, and, come to think of it, I've always liked him on the few...
I'd love to see The Strange Woman be given a high quality Blu-ray disc. The film stars Hedy Lamarr and George Sanders and is directed by Edgar G. Ulmer. The film was originally released by United Artistes and possibly that means it's now owned by MGM. I wonder if Kino Lorber could ask MGM about...
I big yes about Joy In The Morning. With that cast, the film should be of interest to many.
There's no mention of overlooked films in the thread title. Anyway, films listed in the post I responded to have been neither forgotten nor overlooked.
A forgotten film which was never well known in the first place is Fury which I'd love to have in good quality. The film, which has more than one title, stars Claudia Cardinale and Oliver Reed. I've never seen it and it's pretty much disappeared so I suspect it's not a good movie. Being a major...
I've never seen that film and I'm not sure why it slipped under my radar.
Another film pretty much forgotten today which I'd love to have on Blu-ray is Black Tights. It was filmed in Technirama and co-stars Cyd Charisse, a particular favorite of mine.
Yes, I'd like that too. Another Paramount movie from the same period I'd love to see again is The Fleet's In which has a superb score from Victor Schertzinger and Johnny Mercer. I've only ever seen the film once and that was decades ago and on television too!
Yes, I was disappointed when I found that disc had no subtitles. I'm still hoping that Kino-Lorber or Indicator will release this film in high definition.
I'm sure I once saw a Region A (Zone A) disc mentioned but as I had already bought the U.K. disc, I didn't investigate further. If there ever was a Zone A disc, it seems to be no longer available so the only thing I can suggest is to go multi-region and buy the U.K. Blu-ray disc.
I'd love to have that one on a really high quality Blu-ray disc. I do have the Spanish (legitimate) DVD from several years ago which is pretty good and will do until something better comes along.
You forgot to include The Story Of Ruth, a film we'd both love to have on Blu-ray disc. Another film I'm hoping for is The Miracle which seems to be mostly forgotten. I'd love this to come out via Warner Archive.
There are three Silvana Mangano movies I very much want in pristine high...
Is That Kind Of Woman more or less forgotten today? I'd certainly like to have a Blu-ray disc. Directed by Sidney Lumet, seen here . . .
. . . directing Sophia Loren, Tab Hunter, Barbara Nichols and Jack Warden, the film does not deserve to be forgotten, particularly as it has George Sanders...
One film that seems to be forgotten is Man On Fire, starring Bing Crosby and Inger Stevens. I saw it once in a re-run theater about 45 years ago but never since.
Another film, perhaps not forgotten but seemingly missing in action is Bolero with George Raft and Carole Lombard. I'd love to have...
I have Return To Peyton Place on DVD. I don't know if it's still available but the film is not forgotten.
The Trap was released on Blu-ray disc by Olive. I think it's still available. I have the disc and it presents the film in two different ratios, something Criterion should think about.
They're not forgotten films!
A truly forgotten film that I've never seen is Jennifer from about 1953. I'll have to look it up. The only thing I know about it is that Matt Dennis wrote his marvellous song Angel Eyes for this film. The movie is forgotten but, thanks mainly to Frank Sinatra, the...
