Not the Iron Throne. It was in the Red Keep which was built *around* the throne as it was physically impossible to move.

That was a well done episode. Overall, very satisfying. It cemented my opinion of Dany.

IMHO "The Long Night" was "lesser" because it was written poorly not because of poor lighting choices or direction. The direction was the least of my complaints about that one.

I'd put it more on the cinematographer and show runners than the director, although he should still have significant input into that decision.

I'd be OK with it for no other reason than it goes against what we've come to expect from the show runners since they ran out of books for inspiration and pretty much went predictable, safe, and cliche', with a strong leaning into fan service.
