What are the lens specs? The link you posted doesn't seem to be working.

Canon discounted the price of a new R6 even more to $2k, and I was able to get a price match through Best Buy.

The Canon store had a big discount on refurbs, which kind of made me kick myself for not waiting a little longer to get the R6m2. But I figured the BF deals were all played out at the time I determined buying new made more sense. But looks like those refurbs are out of stock now, which makes it...

The recent announcement from Sony for the latest A9m3 is intriguing. Well out of my price range, but it will be interesting to see how quickly or even whether global shutter trickles down to non-flagship cameras...

One of those will likely be my next acquisition (though not sure when) and will probably be the 800mm.

Most of my camera purchases over several model upgrades have been through Best Buy, which will do 0% over 24 months at certain times of the year (like now).

    Your current GAS list?

Carlos's post about getting an R6m2 made me check and see how long I've been using my R6 and it's been over three years (albeit most of this period was during the COVID pandemic). So now I'm wondering if I should upgrade with the various 0% interest financing deals and the holidays coming up. I...

I had the Peak Clutch on a Canon R6 for a bit. I couldn't get used to it as the way I hold the camera doesn't have my palm fully pressed against the body all the time, especially when reaching for the control dial or buttons. So cinching it down where it felt secure on my hand actually made it...

I also realize the semi-absurdity of calling ISO 12,800 "not too crazy" 🙃

Had the kids' first assembly of the year and ISO levels weren't too crazy, topped out at 12,800 with f/8 and 1/125 and the 400mm provided plenty of reach. I didn't actually mind the noise levels, but played a bit with the denoise settings to see what it could do.

The 100-400 arrived a couple days early. Here are a couple far and near outdoor snaps from my yard. I'm not sure how the f/8 will do in an indoor gymnasium (25,600+ ISO I imagine will be needed), but we'll find out in a few weeks!

The Rokinon is 14mm f/2.8, so I would probably favor a 28mm (which I have also tended to find more useful than 35mm). But the f/1.8 for the 35mm is intriguing, though I'm not sure how often I would shoot wide open with it.

Well, KEH offered me another 5% discount on top of the store credit I already had, and typically I don't like to sit on gift cards, so I ordered the Canon RF 100-400mm. I had considered waiting until Black Friday, but the discount doesn't necessarily guarantee they have the lens I want in stock...

    Your current GAS list?

I think I finally realized, with rare exceptions, I'm a zoom lens shooter more so than primes. So basically my primes got traded in along with the 70-200 that was starting to bug me transport wise every time I wanted to use it. My primes now will just be essentially specialty purposes - macro...

BTW, it's nice to hear you like the 100-400. My interest in it is more for indoor use with my kids' school activities so the max aperture range gives me pause, but grain and noise is not the issue it once was and there are some amazing denoisers out there from what I hear.

    Your current GAS list?

I've used one at work for about a year and like it pretty well. I know the extending barrel causes concerns for some people (but what choice do they have now?), but the space savings in day to day transport are the upside. Since switching to a 24-105, there are fewer occasions when I need the...

    Your current GAS list?

Coincidentally I picked up a lightly used Black Rapid wrist strap from eBay a couple weeks back. In de-acquisition news, I decided to trade in a quartet of EF lenses for an RF 70-200 f/4. The long EF 70-200 m2 that was part of the trade was becoming sort of a tail wagging the dog situation when...

I like the Rule of Thirds and admit that I probably use it too often, but then I'm not exactly ashamed of it. I got a little self-conscious once when someone I just met saw my photos and asked if I always follow the Rule of Thirds. Not sure if he was being pedantic or it was really that obvious...

Not sure if I ever heard it called "bullseye syndrome," but that's perfect name for it. In my mind I would think, "it's a photograph, not target practice." In the spirit of the thread, I'm wondering especially if @Scott Merryfield is interested in the Canon R50, since I seem to...

Glad to see another TT convert. 😄 I have the Retro 30, but was using it as my daily work bag (non photo) during the pandemic as it fit my work laptop quite well as well as my gadget bag mic and headphones for doing a lot of Zoom calls. I have since switched to a backpack, but am keeping the 30...

Their pull quote from DP Review is pretty laughable. Like saying, "Today is Friday." And it looks like that pull quote is just from DP Review regurgitating the company's press release. https://www.dpreview.com/news/3902928422/arsenal-is-an-intelligent-assistant-for-dslr-and-mirrorless-cameras...

The R6 Mark II is interesting, but I'm doubtful I'll bite. In hindsight, I think I'm kind of missing the RP I sold off, which offered a full frame format at a reasonable price point. I think if there's a successor to that, that might make the most sense for me (again  :emoji_blush:). I...

Bags like the Think Tank Urban Access series don't require you to take the bag off entirely because of the side access panels. Credit for this concept actually goes to Peak Design, but it seems like Think Tank may have improved on the idea.

That's what I do, but my shoulders have never been the greatest at bearing the weight over time, especially when it's only on one side. In our 36-hour international flights, I try to use a backpack (or avoid uneven weight on my shoulders) as much as possible.

A backpack is generally better on your body than a sling or messenger, but you lose a degree of accessibility in the process, even with the quick access side panel options. I may need to start looking at that more as I'm starting to notice more shoulder strain than before.

I have more Think Tank bags than I should, as an admitted bag fanatic. My current, general kit bag is a Retrospective 7 v2, but I think that line could stand some simplifying (too much overlap on Models 4 and 5 and Models 7 and 10). I was a Domke devotee for a time, but someone made the...

I bought a 200w Aputure monolight last year for a photo booth set up and I appreciated the simpler set up, although the trade off was that I had to raise the ISO more than usual. This was to do group photos of people, so I would expect for product photography you'd have enough power...
