Neal: As a fan of The Defenders and a friend of Gary's who ribs him on a sporadic basis about his disdain for The Defenders, I'm looking forward to your Defenders photo commentary....and so is Gary...but he'll never disclose that to us! LOL! :rolling-smiley: Sean

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Ben: As I mentioned a Shout Rep did confirm that sales of Season 1 were very good for a classic tv release, but since Shout, not CBS, paid for the transfers and music clearances for Season 1, that sales threshold for profitability was significantly higher than a tv series that already has...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Ben: By magic number I'm referring to a sales threshold that is profitable enough for the company to release more seasons of the series.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

It really is a crying shame that the remaining three seasons of The Defenders will most likely never see the light of day. I remember a Shout rep did confirm that Season 1 sold well for a classic tv title (not sure what the exact yardstick for that is), but apparently not enough for Shout to...

Excellent news, Gary; thank you for sharing it. I've been holding off ordering season 1 due to the uncertainty of season 2 getting released, but know that season 2 is in the pipeline, I can now move season 1 from my wish list to the cart.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Alan: I'm right there with you in terms of not wanting to "open the door on a series that will never be released in its entirety" (I'm a completist at heart), but The Defenders: Season One is simply to good to pass up so I would encourage you to take the plunge.

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

I hear ya, Frank. At this stage in the life cycle of physical media,I prefer the surety of a complete series releases rather than the gamble of season sets. The fact that The Defenders is getting any sort of release is nothing short of miraculous and I'm grateful for it. I'm trying to word...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?
