Could very well be a hopeful sign, thanks for sharing the news, Alan. I wish we were hearing similar news about episodes of The Defenders from seasons 2 through 4! :D
Neal:
As a fan of The Defenders and a friend of Gary's who ribs him on a sporadic basis about his disdain for The Defenders, I'm looking forward to your Defenders photo commentary....and so is Gary...but he'll never disclose that to us! LOL! :rolling-smiley:

As I mentioned a Shout Rep did confirm that sales of Season 1 were very good for a classic tv release, but since Shout, not CBS, paid for the transfers and music clearances for Season 1, that sales threshold for profitability was significantly higher than a tv series that already has...
It really is a crying shame that the remaining three seasons of The Defenders will most likely never see the light of day. I remember a Shout rep did confirm that Season 1 sold well for a classic tv title (not sure what the exact yardstick for that is), but apparently not enough for Shout to...
Excellent news, Gary; thank you for sharing it. I've been holding off ordering season 1 due to the uncertainty of season 2 getting released, but know that season 2 is in the pipeline, I can now move season 1 from my wish list to the cart.

Alan:
I'd love to hear your thoughts on The Defenders once you've had a chance to watch the episodes as I have a great respect for your insights on these forums.
Alan:
I'm right there with you in terms of not wanting to "open the door on a series that will never be released in its entirety" (I'm a completist at heart), but The Defenders: Season One is simply to good to pass up so I would encourage you to take the plunge.
Jeff:
Agreed and don't get me started on on how Fabulous Films released all 7 seasons of Alfred Hitchcock Presents (both individually and as a complete series) on 10/25/15 and all 3 seasons of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour (again both individually and as a complete series) on 1/11/16 in Region 2...
I hear ya, Frank. At this stage in the life cycle of physical media,I prefer the surety of a complete series releases rather than the gamble of season sets. The fact that The Defenders is getting any sort of release is nothing short of miraculous and I'm grateful for it. I'm trying to word...
Gary:
I have always deeply respected your tastes and opinions on classic television shows (you have even been responsible for some blind buys by me) and I believe we have a lot of common ground in what we find entertaining. I will certainly oblige your support for The Defenders: Season One by...
Fans of The Defenders really need to get behind this Season One release in terms of sales so that Shout can justify releases of seasons 2 through 4; time to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. :)

Gary:
Thank you for the update on The Rebel and for all of your contributions to HTF over the years. I hope you don't disappear completely like the character Andy Dufresne in The Green Mile as I have greatly valued your opinions as a tv-on-dvd connoisseur; you've brought my attention to many...
I would love to see Alfred Hitchcock Presents, as well as The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, completed. I own seasons 1 through 5 of AHP, but stopped buying when they released Season 6 as a MOD DVD-R.
