I really can't take an awards show seriously when it picks it's Best Picture winner to avoid political controversy, rather than for artistic merit.

The difference is watching a football game for 4 hours can be exciting due to the constant action and movement. A 4 to 4.5 hour award show would be excruciating to watch.

Have to admit, seeing the Best Picture winner and runner up is low on my list. The two I want to see is "My Life as a Zucchini" and "The Red Turtle". Visually, TRT looks great.

Man, La La Land made a lot of ching-ching for Summit Entertainment. approx. 370 mill on a 30 mill production budget.

I figure Moonlight will win because of the diversity issue that struck the Academy Awards last year. The film may actually deserve it, but even if it didn't it would win. They are not about to court that issue again.

I figure Best Picture is going to go to Moonlight or La La Land. My guess is Moonlight.

Other animated film studios just cannot compete against the Disney machine when it comes to these awards, especially foreign studios. My Life as a Zucchini was getting a lot of favorable reviews in animation circles. Wish I could have seen that film to see how it stacked up against Zootopia.

I'm trying to remember if Moana was a Pixar film. I thought it was a WDAS production.

How did Pixar add to their collection? I don't see them nominated for anything.

People in my neck of the woods didn't think much of La La Land. It was here and gone from the local theatre in what felt like all of a week. I wasn't able to see it. Not sure if it would have been my cup of tea anyway.
