I cannot speak for him, but I know that I didn't. I had a bigger emotional response watching an anime called "Violet Evergarden" on Netflix than I did with this film. One interesting note, though. There was a certain point in the film where quite a few people in the audience started clapping...
Kind of over baked in some areas. Like they were going for feels and ended up just being melodramatic. Felt like it could have had 20 minutes cut from it and lost nothing. Other than that, it was decent.
I don't see it as cultural acceptance, especially when a message to shut off phones or put them on silent is put up on the screen before the start of a film. To me, it is just people being ignorant and, apparently, unable to fathom that the other person has paid for their ticket too and deserves...
Nowadays, doing something like that might get a person killed. I think people are a lot more cautious about calling someone out for poor behaviour than they once were.
Guess it will be some time before I see this. All showings for this evening were sold out in advance when I went to theatre for the 22:30 showing. I really do not want to have to go to a theatre an hour early to get a decent seat. I think this one is going to be packed for a while.
18:00 hour Standard, 18:30 3D and 19:30 3D showings at my local dump theatre are sold out for today. Tried buying tickets on-line for the 22:30 3D showing but the site must be getting hit hard because I wasn't getting through. They are using two of the six venues for this film.
