WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

Was the dialogue in the 3D edition still the same as the last blu ray release. ?

WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

I haven't watched these yet but i asked about them, i think in Captain America that the shield comes out of the screen, supposedly some spears come out in the new Trek movie, i think it's possible if they so wish it but too many 3D conversions go for depth and forget ( don't want to use ) the...

WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

I'd like to see if this is actually the case, there is silence so far from Warner Bros, it would be awful if the 3D edition has all the fixes we want including the dialogue and the 2D edition hasn't been worked on at all.

WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

I think i am going to buy this and give it a spin at Xmas, worst possible scenario is i don't like the image quality and i sell it, best scenario is i enjoy it, whatever the case may be i think my interest is high enough to give it a spin even though i tend to dislike conversions.

WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

Yeah but although that is all well and good i have to ask did they put any film grain back in the conversion or is this another super clean scrubbed look conversion with the usual loss of detail that comes from such processes. ? I also have to ask if the 2D edition is now fixed or the same as...

Maybe now that the Ultra Resolution facilities are free they can go in and redo some classic Technicolour films like Scaramouche.

WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

This is what IMDB says on the matter and i think this relates to the blu ray too. The 2000 Warner Brothers DVD edition suffers from print defects due to shrinkage of the materials used in the restoration, and cuts out one line of Dorothy's which occurs during a reel change when Toto is being...

WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

Yes i am aware of that, i'm talking about the last 2D release, it was, without a shadow of a doubt a 4K scan. Reading more into their reply and i get the feeling they are saying they have not fixed the issues with the 2D release, perhaps the delay, if there is a delay, means they will now fix...

I think it was a 4K film scan they did, hopefully i can say more later.

WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

I'm pretty sure a major studio like Warner Bros already knows of the issues from the past release, they have had 5 years to think about them, if they haven't corrected them for this release then i think they are holding something back in order to re-sell the title again in five years time for...

WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

Are they going to make $5m to $10m dollars on this 3D re-release, i doubt it.

WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

I just wish they would shoot in native 3D more instead of converting after the film is shot, it really shouldn't cost that much more to shoot a big budget film in 2D and 3D at the same time, it could be a bit like Oklahoma, 2 different shot versions but much cheaper to do these days with digital...

WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

I'm fine with the release of the new 3D edition, i imagine it cost anywhere between $5m and $12m to convert depending on whether they are using the new cheaper method or the older method, i don't have a problem with it, my concern is what they do with the known issues on the last blu ray...

WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

There was no option i liked so i selected i plan to skip Oz altogether this time around, i still might consider it but only if there is some film grain left ( put back in ) on the 3D edition and perhaps if the 2D edition has improved on the already good 70th anniversary edition transfer.

WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary (Blu-ray 3D)(Blu-ray)(DVD)

I did offer them the use of my time machine to go back and shoot the film in native 3D, they balked at my rental fee of $12m dollars, not really interested in viewing an old classic in 3D because i just know the film grain will be gone and some of the finer detail with it, now if they have made...
