While I agree that in general, Multiverse of Madness is a lower tier MCU film (for me), I would have to say the fact that the MCU is so interconnected is one of the draws for me. I understand it can be hard to remember stuff from a film or TV show from a while ago (I know I miss a lot of stuff!)...
I don't recall if there's a forum "rule" or "courtesy" for what to put in spoiler tags depending on the length of time post a film/show's release, but yes, personally, I would not venture into a discussion thread post-release if I haven't seen it (especially for a new MCU film).
Just like I try...
Agree that a lot of groundwork needs to be laid to set up something that culminates in a similar manner to Infinity War/Endgame (if that's Feige's direction).
What about the more intermediary Avengers-type team-ups (Avengers, Age of Ultron, and I'll include Civil War), though? (Again, if that's...
Same... I like simple, efficient stories as well as the more complicated ones. The more complicated ones can be richer and provide for a multitude of different narratives and implications.
I only starting reading comics about 3-4 years ago, so I missed the recent major events like Civil War...
For sure - I don't think anyone's "forced" or "required" to watch the TV shows. It's up to each person, but the opportunity is there. If one can connect the dots or is not bothered by the narrative gap from Endgame to Multiverse, that's great! Otherwise, if one doesn't understand that narrative...
For now, I'd probably place it around the middle-tier to 3rd quartile of MCU films. Need to think about it some more, and maybe a rewatch. (Disclosure: Dr Strange is a lower tier MCU entry for me.)
Given the marketing and build-up, maybe I expected something a bit more epic, but the...
In general, I'm all for trailers doing the marketing... I mean, I'd like to at least know the premise and to see if the visuals are interesting for any new movie.
But as an MCU fan since the very start, I'd be happy nowadays to attend the first available screening for any new MCU entry pretty...
Saw a few posts on social media warning about massive leaks and to be careful if/when scrolling (for those who use social media).
So, I’m going to stop accessing Twitter until the Thursday premiere. I basically did the same for Endgame back in 2019.
I learned my lesson from 2018 on the...
Apparently, attendees at CinemaCon were treated to the first 20 mins of Multiverse of Madness (source: Erik Davis' twitter account). I won't repeat what the footage was of (if you don't want to be spoiled) but it sounds pretty cool. Can't wait for May 5!!
And then Erik adds:
"Kevin Feige said...
Totally agree - that's why I mention the caveat with respect to RT scores. I thought about adding the RT audience score but realised it's subject to review bombing (eg., Captain Marvel).
RT provides a service by collating the critics' scores, but it can be "simplistic". It's a simple "fresh" or...
I did some further analysis, to see if the "length" of an MCU film corresponds to perceived "quality" (sorry for getting nerdy here :D). I did this purely out of curiosity... ;)
The following table shows the films sorted by runtime, and then the Rotten Tomatoes critics' score. The usual caveats...
Adding to Jake's research, this site has handily analysed all the runtimes in the MCU:
https://www.murphysmultiverse.com/marvel-studios-movie-runtimes/
Their (sorted) list from shortest to longest:
The Incredible Hulk: 1 hour 52 minutes
Thor: The Dark World: 1 hour 52 minutes
Thor: 1 hour 55...
Yeah, I did stay up late to see if the Landmark cinemas would start early. But it wasn't to be. I did see a lot of fans in South America (on Twitter) saying they got tickets around midnight, so their cinemas started as soon as it was April 6.
I got on the Atom app around 7am this morning. I...
Of the 3 cinemas that I could see selling tickets in the premium auditorium, it was roughly 60% 3D. The non-3D were mostly for the 3pm and 10pm shows. The one I got was the only one around 6-7pm.
@Josh Dial , based on your prior experience, do you think tickets might go on sale for Landmark cinemas in Calgary on Tuesday night? When No Way Home tix went on sale, I think it was around 10pm?
Totally. Especially for spoiler-sensitive films like this.
Before kids came along, I used to go opening weekend (typically Saturday) for 99% of new films. However, for certain films where the anticipation was high, I would try to go opening day or night (2 examples, The Lost World: Jurassic...
I grew up in Australia, and new release day is Thursday. So if Thursday becomes the official opening day in the US/Canada, this would reduce the gap between when films are released in many international markets (some Asian countries will have Multiverse of Madness open on the Wednesday!) and...
I've been thinking the same thing for the past few days re: tickets going on sale! Then this pops up this morning.
I understand why cinemas are now doing an earlier showtime around 3pm... gets them an extra showing on opening "night". How long before they move they the 3pm to 12pm (or earlier)?
