    At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the only 4K discs made from 2K sources are for movies where the finished master is only 2K. They are transparent to what the master is.

    A well-shot 35mm camera negative exposed in optimal conditions with optimal lenses is something between 3K and 4K. A 35mm projection print, as seen by audiences in commercial theaters, is much closer to 720p.

And that’s when it no longer is making a transfer or doing restorative or preservation work...
