Press Release SPHE Press Release: Columbia Classics Ultra 4K HD Collection Volume 2

There have been standalone Blu-ray releases in the UK and Australia but the UK release is now out of print. Looks like Sony is not very interested in it as they never released it themselves on Blu-ray. So if there HAS to be another B&W movie in the next boxset it may as well be The Last...

Ah yes - nobody would have wanted to watch it in old and outdated 70mm anyway...

Press Release SPHE Press Release: Columbia Classics Ultra 4K HD Collection Volume 2

His last big movie The Agony and the Ecstasy was a commercial failure so I am sure that Carol Reed could not exactly demand to shoot in 70mm. As for David Lean he was apparently tricked into shooting in 35mm by being assured that nobody would be able to tell real 70mm apart from the 70mm...

Grover Crisp is a legend and we can be very happy to still have him at Sony. Looking forward to many more classics from him and his team!

I have no doubt that all these releases will be of excellent quality but I meant that principal photography on a movie is what ultimately determines how good it can look. Taxi Driver or Stripes will never look like Lawrence of Arabia, not even with a 16k scan but then the selection criteria do...

Press Release SPHE Press Release: Columbia Classics Ultra 4K HD Collection Volume 2

Themes would have been great but too late for that after we already have two box sets. I think that the unifying theme is really just that the movies in these box sets have been successful for Sony / Columbia (Tristar) and/or were critically praised, that's it Everything else like visual /...

Press Release SPHE Press Release: Columbia Classics Ultra 4K HD Collection Volume 2

I have not seen much hostility there just do not seem to be that many who want these movies in UHD. I have all of them (except Oliver!) on Blu-ray and I would say that several of them do not lend themselves very well to a UHD release but I am glad if the set sells out anyway. Maybe I would even...

Not sure what the Weinstein Company still does or doesn't own but it is beautifully photographed and would make a great UHD release. In any case it would be nice to see a bit more from Quentin Tarantino in UHD - many of his movies do not look that great on Blu-ray and would benefit from a remaster.

Unfortunately there is not even one title in this set where I thought upon reading that I would really like that one in UHD - I hope I am in the minority and that again the set will sell out fast enough. I will not get into titles where I know Sony has not yet done the necessary work so Lord...
