Well, after redeeming on MoviesAnywhere, my digital codes from my physical media purchase of this 4K Boxset, two titles on iTunes, "Stripes" and "Oliver!" are still only in HD. Furthermore, my code redemption only gave me the theatrical cut of "Stripes". This sucks! The lack of uniformity...
Oops, forgot to answer this post. I don't know which title I'll watch first as last month, I did watch the 4K digital of "Anatomy of a Murder". I'm so far behind my "watch" list right now, I'm prioritizing some westerns and horror films.
That's exactly that, as they did the same thing with "The Natural" which has two film versions and "Close Encounters of a Third Kind" with their three film versions.
Unfortunately, the 4K digitals are screwed up once again. Sure, they redeemed in 4K on MoviesAnywhere. However, there are issues if you play the movies on iTunes or even Vudu. For iTunes, it's only the theatrical cut of "Stripes" plus it's in HD. Furthermore since you can't preview it that...
FYI for all, inside the accompanying book is the sheet with the six 4K digital codes. If you look at the individual cases for each title, it just says "4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray". Don't panic and look inside the accompanying book for the digital codes.
So much about these box sets being expensive with titles that people don't want in their collection. Granted, some people probably didn't want all six of these titles, but this Sony marketing strategy is working for them so it will probably continue in the future.
I haven't received my 4K disc yet of "Anatomy of a Murder", but my iTunes HD digital upgraded to 4K/Dolby Vision last month or so, and I compared it to that 2012 Criterion BD. My conclusion was the same as yours, there is a significant improvement with the 4K digital over that Criterion BD.
Well, it looks like Target isn't much better than Amazon because my order placed with Target on July 2nd still hasn't shipped. Luckily, I'm not in a hurry especially when the actual cost out of my pocket for this set is only $88.61.
Again, the industry is screwing up another home video format by inconsistency and shoddy releases. Which is why I'm starting to purchase more physical discs than digitals. Luckily, I did so with the examples being noted here.
That has started with some, if not all of the titles.
Edit: Not all six titles have upgraded to 4K yet. Anatomy of a Murder and Social Network have upgraded. Sense and Sensibility is still showing HD while Taxi Driver still doesn’t have any HDR.
Well, I just approved my new delivery date order from Target because I got it for $88.61 out of pocket after some Target Circle and RedCard discounts. Until then I've got plenty of discs to hold me over that I still haven't watched yet.
I accidently received a similar offer back in February, when I noticed I had $20 Circle Bonus attached to my account. I saved the offer, but it slip my mind until I made the necessary purchases that activated that Circle Bonus to my account. However, this time, I was well aware of what I was...
Not the same Circle offer! I got a $25.00 Circle Bonus when I bought two $100 iTunes Gift Cards last month. At that time, they were offering that $25.00 Circle Bonus if you made two different $100 purchases in June. So I got that $25.00 Circle bonus plus $20.00 in Target gift cards and...
