Was expecting this to eventually happen.
Best part of the Apple Card for me has been the savings account. Been making good money off of the APY. Will probably look to move my money out of that...
American Express is notorious for fee-based cards.
I believe I have their "Blue" card (not sure it exists anymore) that doesn't have an annual fee. However, I don't know if there are rewards attached to it or not. I don't use the card.
From what I am reading, it looks like Goldman Sachs is getting ready to hand over Apple Card to American Express.
I don't know if that will be a good thing or not, and, what effect it will have on Apple Savings and the very generous interest rate we are receiving at the moment.
Sorry to learn you had to go through all that, RAH.
In a way, I almost understand where Apple is coming from on the issue of changing an ID and anything that is tied to their services and subscription.
I think it's far more common to change your Apple password than an ID. A password change...
Jeff, glad to hear you got it set up. Yes, the card is very "Apple-like" in its setup.
Hope you make some money off of your efforts while the interest rate is still generous.
It's all done through Apple Wallet.
I suppose you have to wait for the card to arrive. At that point, you just go in and add it to your wallet

And once you do that, you go into your card information in wallet, click on...
In my case, the bank transition had already been done. Anyone with a great credit score should have been given instant approval.
You did make out, though, with the Gift Card, which was very nice of B&H
Just apply

I don't use the card, honestly. First, I have a Chase rewards card that I use towards United Travel.
As you noted, all you need to do is link your primary card to Apple Pay and use it for purchases.
I can't even keep this card with my others...
Payboo was a horrible experience for me.
Just a few months ago I was making a big Mac Studio purchase from B&H and I applied for Payboo to save on the tax. Now mind you, they make it sound like you would immediately be approved and save tax on that purchase. I was very confident as my credit...
Not true. I just Googled that to make sure.
If you apply and are accepted, a hard inquiry is made which will affect your credit score.
However, this is only a temporary hit. It will eventually bounce back.
Unfortunately, yes, that's the process.
Of course, a hard credit check is going to be made, which I don't care for as it temporarily kills your credit score.
The card itself is beautiful.
There is another web service that I saw mentioned in one of the setup YouTube videos that offer nearly...
From Apple:
If you transfer money from Apple Cash, the funds are typically available instantly. If you transfer money from a linked external bank account, it will generally take a few days for funds to be available for withdrawal.
I transferred money from my Chase account this morning. It is...
Yeah, I agree. The rate is too high. I think it's just a loss-leader to get people to create an account.
Worked for me. I'll take advantage of it while it lasts.
I just transferred money that was sitting in my bank's savings account over to Apple Savings. Right now it has the potential to earn $450 for the first year with Apple as opposed to $1.10 (0.01%) with the bank.
Thanks, Clinton. So, if I understand correctly, if I have cash sitting around in my bank account that is earning minimal interest, I can transfer it over to the Apple Card Savings Account and earn 4.15% (at the moment?)
This is huge. I am considering moving my money out of the bank and into this account. The only thing is, that the interest rate will probably not hold for a long time. I expect it to go down.
Yeah, this is great!
I would go with a subscription to own the latest and greatest Apple Hardware that gets released each year.
I mean, I'm doing this already and having to pay in full.
Exactly! I like the way they rolled this out. I was afraid it would be impossible to get a card due to the amount of people responding at once. Apple has kept bottlenecking as minimal as possible by rolling out invites slowly.
So happy to see those interested in this forum getting their...
Come on. I know you are yanking my chain and pushing my buttons .. and it worked.
I think the similarities are that if someone creates a credit card that defines your passion, chances are pretty good you will get it.
Apple knew damn well people would opt for this card just because...it's Apple.
Dave,
I am going to give you the answer you expect and want to hear...
Look at it! It's Apple! Cooooooool!
Yup, that's why I want it. I may never, ever use it but since my present point in life is tied to everything "Apple," this is just one more way of expressing my brand loyalty...
John, exactly what I have learned over the years.
That's awful, awful advice from iMore. Really idiotic, in fact. Not paying your card every month helps your credit?!
One of the things that temporarily hurts your credit is opening a new credit card account.
However, in the long run, that...
